Toohey's News

Could think of 3 or 4 options better than Grant Anderson. Charlie Staines, Jenkins from Penrith, Sam Stonestreet even though he's contracted til 2025 at Cronullla who's stuck behind Mulitalo and Katoa. Even Blake Wilson winger with the white headgear from the Doggies who I thought looked decent for them would be a better option than Anderson.

All of the players I've suggested have their clear work-ons but think any of them could do a decent job on the Right Wing to replace Dom.

Actually like the look of Stonestreet but yeah Tuala is reliable and a proven good finisher. I’m okay with pencilling him in and then having competition for spots behind him.

Would also seriously think about Gagai wing Tuala right centre. Actually don’t think the gap between him and Gagai in terms of skill at providing that last pass or running the right lines in backline movements is that big, but the gap as a yardage merchant and kick returner is massive. Also our best young outside backs prospect Mapapalangi is more of a centre than a potential winger. It makes sense to me.

One man two words; Ken Maumalo, and I would probably also sign Grant… between one of those two and Mapapalangi and Tuala we will have one stand up for the Dom Young jersey

Ken was good in his day at the Warriors but is nearing 30 and is on the outer at the Titans. Any word on what's happening with Moceidreke?

Parr says all contract talks are on hold while we are still alive in the comp, but there are 6 players we want to keep who can talk to other clubs from Nov 1. Best, JSaf, Gamble, Crossland, Croker, Gagai.

No contract for Nu Brown.

Toohey says the same people who were actively trying to replace O'Brien a few months ago are now keen to give him 3 more years.

Former Manly Development Manager Simon Healey will join our development team with the aim of him eventually replacing Dobson. Dobson will teach Healey the role and coach Flegg next year. Toohey says we are "significantly" expanding our development programmes next year.

Of cause, West's has seen how much more money they can make if we are going well.

Just wraps up the season by rating the players out of 10 for their season.
He gives Ponga 9, Frizell 8.5, Gagai, Marzhew and Crossland 8 and several players 7.5 or 7. He could only find 6.5 or 6 for DSaf, Mann, Croker, Hetherington, Tuala, Miller etc, and a handful got less than 6. He didn't rate players who had 1 or 2 games like Jones, Keeley, Cant etc.
Each player got a 2 or 3 sentence wrap of their season.

Sounds like the days when Toohey had good source(s) within the Knights are long gone.
Yeeaaahhh. I mean he has some good stuff and expect he’ll have some good off-season news. But yeah, todays was a snore, no-one likes a player rating column. 😂😂

Yes, it suits the club to minimise speculation about players which it wants to re-sign before November 1 and possible new signings.

We will just have to patiently wait for the club to announce re-signings and a new signing or two.

I think they are VB fans
When I visited Aus back when I drank and I had no idea what the beers all were, I did sometimes go for a Toohey's New just to save the hassle of deciding, so I guess that checks out lol.
