Toohey's News

From a moral and legal standpoint we should never touch him again, I wonder if he still try's to run over people twice his size in the ESL. His biggest problem was he never got over the fact that he couldn't trample grown men like he used to trample his peers in SG ball........ Oh and the fact he was slow, no footwork, no ball playing and horrible defensive reads.

Guy was shocking, I said it the entire time he was here and initially nearly got hunted out of town for it,
Thought he was alright on the wing, but never rated him in the forwards.

Was quite an honest podcast interview … definitely a bit of a window into why things were so bad during those wooden spoon years.

Don't think there's much truth to the Fitz -> ESL rumours. He and his partner just bought a house in Newcastle
Don't think that means too much though. He could rent a place in the UK and put tenants in his Newy place if that's the plan. Good market to buy into currently if you don't need to borrow much. He's probably not short of coin, especially if his old man is chipping in.

That doesn’t mean much. Didn’t Klem buy a few? Pretty sure he bought one months or less before his announcement to move on

Fitz was using his degree to build his own house a few years ago.
If he has bought something he probably plans a knock down re-build like half the team seems to do.

I don't know what the rules are, but I can't help thinking that Wests could field a NSW cup side similar to the way Wyong did and pay the best locals to play at a semi pro level.
i think the implication of the tweet was not so much about match payments but the jobs they walk into, fair few of the pickers side are in mining jobs.

On Wests they really havnt been a quality side since they took ownership of the knights, i dont know if thats a coincidence or not but they certainly arent the club they used to be. the last few years Maitland has been the best non-pro/semi pro club in the state by some margain. They have won back to back Presidents cups. Maitland are easily the closest side to NSW cup standard.

Bradman says he has met with O'Brien and Parr and he has been assured by both that he has nothing to worry about and his contract is safe. He hopes to get a new deal after 2024 and doesn't want to leave the "boys".

Fitz has interest from Leeds and has tough decisions to make in the next few weeks.

Blake Cannavo, a CEO of a Port Macquarie based mining company, is being used as a consultant by Peter Parr. His son, Will Cannavo, plays Harold Matts for the Knights.

Toohey says "next Mann up" is a fair way to describe Riley Jones who had a great game in Flegg last week and is named at hooker in reserve grade today. Jones is a utility who plays hooker, 5/8, centre and fullback. Toohey says he could play firstgrade this year.

Kostjasyn is off contract at the end of the year and hasn't got a new offer yet. Toohey says O'Brien rates him highly, but Seibold has also described him as one of the best he's worked with.

Anything about DSaf?

Does it say what sort of consultant Blake Cannavo is?
Toohey assumes it is something to do with recruitment and retention because he was seen talking to a player manager at last week's reserve grade game.

I'd imagine that would mean something to do with career opportunities in the mining industry.

Initial story came from Danny Weidler, who lives in Gould’s back pocket.

Then Gus is talking about it on his podcast the next day.

Don’t need to be Sherlock Holmes to work out what happened 😂
