Good news that they are not spending money on all the fringe players mentioned every 5 minutes.
We need to spend our money on a few top quality players.
Dargan, Frawley, Lino = Larry, Moe and Curly Joe.
All would struggle to keep Loughrey and Hoy out of reserve grade.
 
Can’t say I agree with not signing Matterson.

Would be nice to get 3 marquee players for next season, but considering we weren’t successful getting any to date I’m not holding my breath.

Need a Mitchell Pearce situation to happen again
 
I will say the fact we have the room for marquees and we don’t want to talk to Glenn or Matterson may mean that Brown & Moons are targeting somebody or they know there will be movement.

There is always the chance that we end up with guys like Lillyman & Heighington again because we were too picky. Time will tell
 
Better of being picky and if we don't get anyone so be it better than buying crap and then wishing we hadn't
 
I feel like the roosters with the knowledge we could make a few more potential big name signings and still be under the cap. But considering that we spent $2m+ less in 2016-17 I guess it shouldn't be a surprise.

That and we probably don't have a lot of very high paying salaries.

Like everyone else I don't want us to be making signings for the sake of it.

Guerra 450k-550k
Glasby 400k-500k
Ese'Ese 300k-400k
Dan Saifiti 300k-400k
Sione 300k-400k
Watson 300k-400k
Moga 300k-400k
Levi 300k-400k
Barnett 250k-350k
Jake Saifiti 250k-350k
Fitzgibbon 250k-350k
Ramian 250k-350k
SKD 250k-350k
Griffin 150k-250k
Ross 150k-250k
Buhrer 150k-250k

If you go somewhere in the middle of those numbers thats 6-6.5mil " ish "

The rest would be minimal to 150k
So say 1.3mil for the other 10 players

Thats "roughly" 7.5 mil of cap

I personally think we are about 7mil into our cap with 2.2mil ish available for 2019

Be great to spend 1.5mil of that on a Klemmer type and
A Zane Musgrove type to bolster our middle power running.

Then another 150-200k on a 23-25yr old half thats solid back up.

Don’t know if you’ve seen Lino play but he’s actually quite a good little player. Sh1ts over anything we’ve got outside of Watson and Pearce. No idea about dargan but Frawley is also an upgrade over any reserve we have.
Matterson is a decent player but he is a back rower and that is probably our most stacked position
 
Lino can't tackle, Frawley has a bloke called Cogger being preferred, at this stage our halves look better with Hazard, Johns, Loughrey and Hoy, buying someone doesn't mean it will work.
 
Lino has improved but last year he got schooled by hodko. That's saying something. Frawley looks ok but hard to know if he will ever be a first grade half.
 
Lino looks really good in broken field situations of the type the Warriors create with their hot potato style, but he won't be much use in our team - just another poor defender.

That's basically a poor mans Shaun Johnson and nearly every warriors player. I do remember he was massively hyped by warriors fans (much like Abbey) and seen as a future halves partner to SJ when he was in reserves.
 
Fuimaono is having no luck.
He came back early from a broken bone in his hand.
He probably shouldn't have even been playing in that Penrith game.
 
Have zero issues offering Sio an extension so just a matter of when it happens.
 
Biggest positive out of the article for me is Brown spending a week in camp with the AB’s. I once read a book called Legacy which is about leadership and focuses in on the culture of the AB’s. It was an incredible insight into why they perform so well and how a winning formula is deeply rooted into the culture of the team. Good place to look and if similar learnings can start being placed into the Knights club culture, we are heading in the right direction. Good move.
