I'm surprised it's taken this long to be honest. To have zero cases within the NRL last season seemed like a miracle. Unfortunately this is going to be something we're all going to come in contact with at some point. Really could interrupt the 2022 season with players/teams having to withdraw left, right & centre. But this needs to be the way forward because the whole thing is, the more people that get it, the more the vulnerable will be exposed, which means the more pressure on hospitals which have to accommodate both covid & non-covid related issues. The spread won't be stopped, but it can be slowed & not so concentrated. Seems we have a way to go yet with this whole saga.

Exactly mate. They played Russian roulette pretty good last season, it don't take much though as I said I was in a sit down setting for 4 hours and ended up with it. To make matters worse you have to be medically cleared so that could take some amount of time to process. Knights have docs so obviously that works in their favour, it's just so hard to go about life "normally", you've got to be real vigilant about what you're doing.
 
If they approve the new anti viral drugs before the season starts, the claims are that the anti viral drugs will have you non infectious and back to work in a week if you start taking them from the first day you are positive.
I can see the players having to do daily rapid tests and taking anti virals immediately if they test positive - and maybe only missing 1 or 2 weeks.
That's assuming all the guys will be triple dosed by the start of the season, so will have a mild case of covid if they get one.

Rapid tests are already available.
Anti virals are close to being approved in America.

One article I read earlier today speculated that Omicron is less likely to infect your lungs, which explains why it is proving less deadly, so if they get onto it on day one, it shouldn't be too hard to treat quickly.

They were doing daily tests when the first cases were in Newcastle. We can see scientists, pharma's and the like are putting in to find new ways to combat this disease. We need a miracle to knock it on the head.

The question I ask is with omicron being so prominent in Newcastle and it being reported twice as transmissible as delta, would and should all kids from school age go and get vaccinated, will schools hold hub days and will parents be open to this? Once it's in a school you can guess the rest.
 
I have a 7 and 9 year old both wife and I are double vaxxed and will probably wait a bit before our kids get done.

When they decided to vax 11 and up we thought they would do it through schools but they didn't. We just booked an appointment as soon as we could at the homebush jab centre and drove down twice to get them done.

I was also reading I believe from Africa that Omicron is infecting younger children more than adults. Not sure the vaccinated percentage over there for adults but the Dr was saying where Delta and other variants didn't infect kids to a large degree, they are seeing a different story with Omicron.

If I had younger kids I'd be getting them jabbed as soon as possible. You don't knw what variant is around the corner and if a real bad one arrives I wouldn't want to be stuck in a rush to get vaccinated. Back with Delta, at least on the coast, you couldn't get a vaccination booking for 8 weeks or so. And, spots will be taken by booster shot appointments also.
 
So, who is getting cut?
In the Toohey's news this week he wrote "we have 2 positions to fill (likely to become 3)" and left it at that.
 
If someone has to go to make room for Eddie if he fully recovers then would think it likely Musgrove, played left wing Eddie’s position so not needed.

Only real fact in it is that a NSW cup player is in lockdown after testing positive to add to Veaila and a staff member.

The squad we have now might be bottom 4, but if we get good value for the million dollars salary cap we still have, we should be near top 4.
 
Idk I think we played terrible all last year, had shocking injuries (Pearce didn’t contribute to a victory against a single top 8 team) and still ended up 7th.
I think our biggest improvements will come from gagai and another year of experience for our young outside backs which was our biggest weakness all year. A new S&C team (we literally had the worse in the comp) and Clifford being there all year.
 
A lot of pressure on Ponga and Clifford. If they can stay healthy and firing it should be an entertaining season at the least. If either of them miss an extended period of time I think we struggle.
