The pre-season 2026 thread

Guys I don't think have a set role till the new coach figures out what to do with them:

Fletcher Sharpe
Fletcher Hunt
Sandon Smith
Pheonix Crossland
Tom Cant
ESL
Manuleleua

This is why Holbrook is good, at the Roosters he has overseen Smith at 6,7 and 9 and should know what position is his best, better than anyone else that’s not named Sandon Smith.

Personally I think
1. Ponga
6. Brown
7. Smith

Is our strongest for those positions and gives us a better chance to win games over any other variant but that’s my opinion.

Can anyone give us an update on DeCausey?
He was doing some great things during the disaster that was 2025.
Will he get an NRL pre season?
I would be surprised if he was not full time in the NRL team by the middle to end of 2026 season at centre or wing.
Thoughts?

Probably the same people who take the lazy way out and think Brisbane will now win 4 in a row. The easiest prediction is just to assume next year will be exactly the same as the one just gone by.
I actually remember a few pundits predicting the Knights would be spoon in 2025. I remember thinking they’re all mad and haters. I don’t think we’ll get the spoon again, but it’s not unreasonable to think we will.

with Brown and Crossland starting training late, any early opposed sessions will have to have people like Matt Arthur and Sharpe and maybe even the Hoad twins in the spine positions.
We have let Hastings, Gamble, Brailey, Pryce, Sutton, Riley Jones and even Haami Loza go - so we don't have many options.

Didn’t we also get Hunter?

It's pretty wild how he has one ordinary year and everyone seems to forget how good he actually is
You look at Leo this year performed badly. It’s hard for players to perform consistently when they know they are changing clubs. Brown at the start of the year would have had that and the pressure in the back of his mind. Then not having Moses. Then Ryles dropped him, changed positions on him.

He’s still going to have a **** ton of pressure on him here but once he is settled he will be awesome for us. We are smart enough fans to know it may not click straight away and give him time.
