The pre-season 2026 thread

Seems weird they’re predicting Pasami won’t be in the team.
They don’t really ever try and look into squads, especially knights. That bench is diabolical,
Mooney played a lot of lock this yr in Cup and was very good with digging into line and passing out back, awesome offload too. So having him at 13 this year would be great, Crossy move there after his 9 start, continues the ball playing.

Reported today that:

Preseason starts Nov 3 for some, with others joining in the following weeks.

Fletcher Sharpe has been cleared to resume training on Nov 3. Great news.

Sandon smith coming Nov 10 apparently.

KP, Friz, Saf due back 2 weeks later. (Nov 24).

Brown back just before Christmas due to rep duties - I’m not sure what the rules are, eg we saw Luai turn up to Tigers training early to get to work. While no pressure on Brown - everyone is entitled to their time off, it would be a great signal of intent and win over some fans to “get into training early”. Even if he turns up and talks to the team - I think they could make some great PR out of it and give fans something to feel good about before Xmas.

Hagan and Winter (SG ball) and Gow and Hunter listed in the article as attending the pre season.

Pretty sure I read somewhere he has already been to the HQ and talked to the boys and even training a little before joining the Kiwis

I wonder if Brown or Smith could be potential future captains of the club 🤔
All depends if they are willing to rip in and take the reins of the entire team, KP can just stand back catching butterfly's and pick flowers or something

Got an inside word on current discussions at the club among the brains trust.

Currently, the brains trust have the spine as:

1. Ponga
6. Sharpe
7. Brown
9. Smith

My mate who happens to be a coach (not at the Knights) also said with a wink and a nod that preseason has a way of ironing out all manner of things. Which was a way of placating my overt disgust and surprise that they're still thinking of Brown as a halfback

Well the Smith announcement had POS saying the spine players were Ponga, Sharpe and Brown. So guess it’s not surprising
