Lakers still have to shed a contract before October AND still need a shooting wing. Bronny made a lot of progress last season and might be kept, but I guess if they get a 2nd rounder back from the 6ers, they'll let him go as well.

Edit: Forgot to mention that Matisse, if he can stay fit, could be that shooting wing as he has really improved his 3pt shooting. Add that to his stellar defence, and he could be the bargain buy (he's on a vet minimum) of the season.

His last year is a team option. 99% chance they decline it so he can play with his dad in Philly that last season.

Interestingly in the aftermath after 'discussions with every team in the league' outside of the teams that were shortlisted, Boston expressed interest and the Clippers also did but $20m wouldn't have been enough for him to go to a team and automatically be their best player lol.

The thing I'm looking forward to most down the track actually is not having to hear Rich Paul insert himself into every story, trying to make himself relevant and appealing to future clients.
 
It's hard to support a team in a sport where they're all owned by billionaires, given that almost all billionaires are scumbags. But the level of scumbaggery of the new Lakers owners is next level, so I'm out officially.

I'll revert to supporting NBA teams with Australian players.
 
If there is a downfall, breakdown of the ownership, that led to the selling of the team, then it's on Jeanie.
Even if legally she's always had a bit more power then the other siblings (which was in accordance with what her father wanted) it has been amusing knowing full well always hated that her half siblings she got rid of were always going to get something financially and their children/grandchildren etc in accordance with her fathers wishes.
Then there was the dwindling lack of respect around the league for them compared to their father, The Lakers struggling hard for several years, until Lebron falls into their laps. Which she hated because he was responsible for Russ but copped no flack for the disaster that was.

I don't really feel for Lakers fans, because they're spoilt as it is, now Luka falling into their lap. On top of the other usual advantages they get.

You'd think there's gotta be an immediate future play with those 2030 picks, or just should have kept him, but other Denver bench/role players have fallen off the wayside too. We'll see.
 
The Clippers punishment
- The Clippers must forfeit first-round draft picks in 2029, 2030, 2031, 2032 and 2033.
- In addition to the $30 million fine, Ballmer is suspended from all league and team activities for one year
- President of business operations Gillian Zucker is suspended without pay for one year.
- And president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank is suspended without pay for six months.
- In addition, Leonard must pay the league $700,000.

The Clippers, meanwhile, contested the league's findings and said they will challenge them "through every avenue available to us."
 
Houston Rockets' Amen Thompson has agreed to a five-year, $208 million rookie-scale contract extension with the franchise, sources tell ESPN. The new deal includes a 10% trade kicker.

Houston backed themselves into this a bit. Ever since they let known Amen Thompson (and Sengun) were their top players (i.e. only trading them for Giannis on June 2024).

But then, the next two seasons happened. Especially 2025 Playoffs vs Steph and Butler, who had fallen hard and got his butt injured. And then 2026 Playoffs vs LeBron.

At least, both Thompson and Sengun are each just about 20% of the salary cap per year? Maybe assistant coach Chip Engelland reputation teaching shooting continues?
 
Yeah I'd feel very very bad about being that tied to Sengun & Amen. Your franchise players can't shoot & also have serious limitations in other aspects of the game which have been badly exposed in a playoff setting.

Would be filthy with Amen as a Rockets fan too. Both Thompson twins, it just doesn't at all seem to me like they've put much effort into improving their shooting at all. Stephon Castle has an issue there too but has come along so much further than both in much less time. It really just comes down to how much they want it. I think the guy on my team wants it more.
