There was a bit once on Immortal Behaviour where Joey seemed to drop a hint that we’d inquired with the Sharks about Tricky’s availability in the past.

They need to give Liam Sutton a shot in the trials, big body, fast with a good long kicking game and defends better than any of the other halves. Roll the dice.
 
The best five halves pairings in the NRL...according to Zero Tackle...interestingly Galvin and Luai haven't played together, Cleary and Talagi haven't played together, Hunt and Reynolds haven't played together (and have a combined age of about 120)...although fair enough to leave out the Knights' ? and ?....

Yeah not sure how you can rank a duo who haven’t played before yet that highly. Let alone Reyno and Hunt, who won’t be a halves combo anymore by round 10.

My 2c:

1. Hughes and Munster
2. Moses and Brown
3. Cleary and literally anyone
4. Hynes and Trindall
5. DCE and Brooksy

There’s no stronger indication of the paucity of quality halves going round at the moment than that I can’t think of another combo to put above the one with Brooksy in it at the minute. This has of course been affected by retirements, injuries and players changing clubs, but besides these 5, the only established duos who’ve played a bit of footy together and who you know will be in the round 1 teams are Sexton/Burton and Clifford/Dearden.

Yeah but a win is a win I don’t know why people are obsessed with big score lines the fact is we beat them plus honestly I’ve been rewatching games Pezet has played at Melbourne in the NRL and he actually hasn’t been all that impressive, media hype more than actual hype but again that’s 93% of players, no one talking about Lucas in the media despite him being just as good as Haumole, Crichton, averaging more metres and I’m pretty sure more tires than Liam Martin.

Put him in a Melbourne, Roosters or Penrith jersey and everyone would talk about him.

Agreed, but the Storm also had Nelson out and I'm pretty sure this scratchy win was our only win over a top 8 side in 2024.

Lucas isn't as good as Haumole/Crichton yet but potentially could be better than both

Knights don't get a lot of media coverage generally. I don't mind them not hyping Lucas, it seems every prospect or exciting talent we have is being linked with the Dogs, Raiders & Roosters...as if we're a NSW Cup feeder team.

If the Tigers start winning (especially if they beat us in round 1) expect Fox Sports Staff Writers to make us the new whipping boys, overhyping every issue and drama and making **** up about the club generally for clickbait.

This section just about sums up accurately the Fox attitude to Newcastle.
They have never forgiven Big Chief for taking Knights players to Sydney to sign with the ARL instead of Super League.
Plus Newcastle don’t have any Fox“crawlers” or mates with the so called Fox “legends” commentators.
They are so amateur hour!

To be fair Lucas out did Haumole and Angus on defence efficiency and running metres per game, whilst scoring equal of Haumole yet people were raving about him and only Knights fans were saying anything about Lucas.

I wouldn’t trade Lucas in for any second rower in the comp I see him as a future Australian mainstay, and one more season like last and he should make the NSW squad.

Maybe it’s Knights bias from my point of view though and I do tend to do that.
