and still ranked at the top end for halves in most metricsHe looked lost at sea when Moses was injured. Not worth the coin imo
I'm with you. Gamble at 7. Can kick and can give the ball early to PongaI'm all in for Gamble at 7 tbh. He'd have the biggest boot out of our options and I think would be the most reliable. Also his effort is needed in the side.
I've been critical of Hastings having a weak kicking game and fact he played lock for NSW Cup gives me a indication he won't be our 7 Round 1.
Also Cogger while he improved at the back end of the year didn't show enough to be a guarantee starter.
Sharpe I don't think is ready yet to play 6 at first grade. I agree with Oliver, I'm going with Pryce also.
My pick for 1st game spine
1 Ponga
6 Pryce (need a ball runner at 6 and he's right now the best option until Sharpe develops a passing game)
7 Gamble
9 Brailey (His form towards the end of last year deserves a start)
14 Crossland
Need either of a first class 7 or a dynamic 9 for this to work i reckonYeah that's it. Just leave him at 1 in defence, 6 in attack. Have the guy who's defending at 6 play closer to a traditional 1 role in attack. There's no rule against this and at times it looks more like Walsh is the 6 and Ezra is the 1 in attack at Brisbane too, with Walsh doing more of the kicking etc.
Probably somes up how a lot of the players feel. Not a serious post, just a laugh.
But you read players saying yeah the coach really simplified my game, made it easy for me.
Meanwhile OB:
"Ok, so our 1 is going to play 1 in defence, but switch to 6 in attack, our 6, you play 6 in defence and play like a 1 in attack. Now that 6 could be our winger from last year. Yes I know it's a big move from catching and scoring.
Now that winger might be our 7 yet I haven't decided. So Gamble you could play 6 still, or on the bench as our utility. Actually you may work at 7 I'm still figuring this out.
Where's Pricey, good good, just keep plugging away mate you could end up at 6 yet."
Ok fellas if you can train for all the positions I might play you in and be ready for anything that would be great.
Now get out there and win some games."
I think the comment they come out with "he simplified my game" Comes from half of the guys are lucky to have a high enough IQ to do their shoelaces upI know it’s a jocular post, but Bellyache has plenty of players on his roster right now who train multiple positions. Tyran Wishart has had starts in every spine position. Meaney subs in at fullback and has played every spot in the back 5 there, as well as five-eighth. Fa’alogo is now the back-up fullback but he trains and plays wing too when needed. He’s moved forwards between front row, lock and second row when needed or to exploit particular matchups.
The Panthers used Cogger at hooker & constantly do **** like switch which sides of the field the wingers, centres and back rowers are playing on too.
I don’t see how any of this is wildly different to what AOB’s done, if anything he’s been more consistent & pick and stick than Cleary overall if you factor in positional changes. I know Cleary has been more consistent with his halves, but I have a sneaking position AOB would have consistently picked Luai and Nathan too.
I don’t get having conniptions about fringe players trialling for different spots in the team. Like yeah no **** Fletcher Sharpe should train for stuff other than fullback if he wants to be an every week first grader. We’ve got a pretty handy fullback, having Fletch train only for a position he won’t be first choice for in first grade “simplifies” things maybe, but is it smart?
These players are grown men who’ve been playing since they were kids, I’m sure they can get their heads around the expectations of each position they have the right body type & skillset to play.

I’ve heard them trying to discuss footy in actual depth. They wouldn’t be able to comprehend what HVG said. Please copy and paste that.
Then email it to those peanuts at bloke in a bar. Well said. Best post I've read all off season.
I’d like to see young Connor Vatolo as our long term standoff. The wizardry with his feet is unbelievable.Don't know if this has already been said but is Dylan Brown an option for us? Not an established 7 but only 24, could make a Luai like transition if not we have a great 6 for the future. We offered both Leo and Pezet good money so we must have some money free'd up for next season??
obrien was the one who’s idea it was to move Hughes to 7!I know it’s a jocular post, but Bellyache has plenty of players on his roster right now who train multiple positions.
