Which potential halfback, available from November 1, should the club make the #1 priority?

Compared to cogger taking line on they weren't even fazed.get it cogger better as organiser won't debate that.. but need more than organiser playing in the half's

Both of Ponga's line breaks in that game were off passes he received from Cogger doing The Straightener ( & more of our tries were being scored down the right than the left when Crossy got put at 7). The main impacts Phoenix had were #1 stiffening up the defence and #2 speeding us up with ball in hand. Jackson was simply playing too slow.

Bingo. Or rather, it says more about the player Jackson was in 2024.

I personally thought Gamble should be put on to that left edge over Phoenix when he came back, but I suspect AOB was right not to as Cogger played his best footy when he was clearly the one in charge of steering the team around, and the team was winning as is. Hastings and Gamble are both very loud personalities and were possibly drowning Cogger's voice out, so to speak.

Not going off stats only paint's a narrow mind narrative.watching defence reacts to him taking the line on how he carry himself on the field. How other players respond too it .
 
Crossland sees himself as a 9, and as the Kiwi 9, he's likely to be keen to play 9.

Brown walks into our team and makes it significantly better, as pointed out by @HarVeeGee13 our lack of threat in the spine other than KP is a big problem. But given recent history, I don't think we have a realistic chance of signing Brown so we'd better find another solution.

No one is talking about it but it seems to me that the second name on the team sheet each week after KP will be Sharpe. Whether it's in the 6 or on the wing. It's not just that he's played well and earned his spot, he's the backup for KP followed by IDK daylight followed by Pryce?
 
As the days count down i get more convinced of

1. Ponga
7. Gamble
6. Sharpe
9. Crossland

Trials might make me think different but for right now that seems good, Gamble is to slow for a 6 but he always manages to make something happen like a line break assist or a kick behind so I’d be happy with him going to 7, Sharpe to be our danger man in the halves.

I’d like for Crossland to scoot out more and go for a kick he doesn’t utilise it enough and he can really launch it downfield, just adds another dynamic.
 
Bookies and various pundits have the Knights anywhere from 3rd favourite to favourite for the spoon.

Either they're very wrong or AOB needs to shake some things up.

With seemingly no more signings/trades on the horizon, we're all just spinning our wheels as bored footy fans until the trials.

The debates after the trials should be interesting.

I'll try to be supportive whichever way AOB goes, but I hope he doesn't play it too safe and whatever decision he makes on the halves he backs it in for a decent run.

Yeah, heaps of young Dogs touted as the next big thing off to other clubs while Gus buys high. Not to forget Averillo (who had a great season for the Phins) and Alamoti (who has a GF ring now).

TBF though Oloapu is coming back from neck surgery so the Dolphins are taking a risk.

Pretty sure most bookies write us off most years. I'm sure the boys couldn't care less what they think, and rightfully so.

IDK care what the bookies think but it's not like the weight of money has shifted the odds in favour of the Knights.

If anything the Knights have blown out from where they started in the market. It's not just bookies and pundits who don't rate the Knights in 2025 it's the punters.

I think it’s more that the squad as a whole started to catch some momentum (like they did the previous year) rather than anything Crossland (or Cogger for that matter) specifically did in the halves.
 
We have unlimited options for 2nd receiver - Gamble, Crossland, Pryce, Sharpe maybe Annan or even Votano.

We only have two options for organising halfback - Hastings or Cogger, and if we had a million to spend that's where we should spend it, because neither of those options is a top 4 half.
