Tevita Pangai Jnr

You'd have to think that just general maturity might also be a factor in his improvement Billy...

But there are those that only perform when the right coach is involved - I thought that with Darius but, from my perspective, he never even really stepped up (under Bennett) when he was here either

I watched him for years in lower grades and he used to drive coaches crazy. He always had unlimited potential but he'd just have a few runs and go to sleep on the field.
In one of the articles I read yesterday it said Ricky Stuart told him he'd never play firstgrade, and that would be because he'd only play for 10 minutes and then start daydreaming or something and just be wandering around in backplay looking for 4 leaf clovers or something.
He's only ever had a crack when playing for Wayne, and the gamble for us would be, is Wayne the only coach who knows how to rev him up?

The best junior footballers don't always make the best players.

From the Penrith District in my age the 'best players' never quite amounted to anything special, Willie Isa has played a fair bit of ESL whilst Lancen Judo played one game for Cronulla in one of their wooden spoon years, whilst Andrew Fifita is easily the best player of my age to make it, although as a youngster he was always playing in 2nd division at St Pats or Doonside and even got over looked by Panthers hence why he ended up at Tigers.

If you said he would be the best prop in the game back then not many people would have taken you seriously.

From my impression of how Bennett goes about his coaching style he really generates loyalty in his players and they really want to play for him.

From all reports I have seen Brown is a similar kind of coach that really gets players wanting to put in and play for him.

Maybe he can motivate TPJ also, and if he flew down here he met Brown, and if Brown has given him that feeling, that he can come here and play for him, who knows what can happen.

Having said that I expect him to sign for the broncs. He is not getting a new manager apparently from his interview saying managers take too big a slice of the pie and he doesn't want one. He seems to have his mind made up, which doesn't make a lot of sense for him to tour the Knights facilities.

On the case

Incoming Knights assistant coach Kristian Woolf could be a handy asset in the club’s bid to entice Tevita Pangai Jnr south.

Woolf is the Tongan coach and will no doubt be seconded to get in the Broncos forward’s ear about joining him in Newcastle at some stage in the future when they join forces next month for the Test against Australia.

Close mate Sione Mata’utia will no doubt also have a role to play while Pangai stayed overnight at Luke Yates’s place when he was in town last week

Great watching TPJ and Sims up against each other now. I hope they both pulverise the other, but surely TPJ comes off best in that one.

Wasn’t that impressed with TPJ today, big game and he didn’t seem to stand up at all, think we need a Klemmer more
ASJ- TPJ wasn’t the only Bronco forward who didn’t stand up, but you need to ask why didn’t they have a simple “ get the Ball and run hard and straight “ game plan ? I know the Dragons ran the middles ragged but that is no excuse.

When you don't look like signing a player then negativity takes over and he is no longer the player you perceived, doubts on ability take over and errors become more obvious.
Bit like the player you hate, Pearce, who becomes a Knight and is suddenly in shinning armour.
Nothing wrong with TPJ except he ain't with us.

TPJ will never consistently stand up as the main man. He needs forwards to be doing the work up the middle for him to star out wide otherwise you just won’t notice him.

Talk of him being as good if not better than Taumalolo one day is laughable to say the least. Taumalolo has destroyed forward packs on his own many times already including in big finals games.

Knights should be gunning for Klemmer over this overrated flea everyday of the week.

Frank , nothing wrong with TPJ just him and the rest of the Broncos forward pack got out played on the day.
There is still a bit to play out at Broncs before you wipe TPJ off our sights more worrying is Moons moving before the deals done.

Isnt Moons only going a month early anyway his contract is up in October I believe

The Doncs were guilty of believing everything published in the Organ of the North - the Courier Mail.

They were unbeatable. They were odds on favourites ~ $1.80 to $3.70. They got out to a ten point lead. They were thinking about playing Souths next week. Lost all commitment and all respect for opposition. Couldn't get their over sized heads back into the game.

I wonder what TPJ will make of the incredibly controversial appearance of Andrew Gee in Bennett's coaches box. That's not a good look for the Broncos if the NRL do their due diligence and issue a please explain. Maybe Bennett will disappear now as well? haha.

That's just Boyd talking up his off-contract team mate, wouldn't look too much into it.

TPJ struggled yesterday looked underdone to me I think that hammy just wasn’t right.

Cowboy you’re off your head “overrated flea” the guy is a gun you’re just upset because somebody compared him to JT

When he consistently does the hard stuff and lead a forward pack then he is up in the top echelon of forwards.

While he remains quite in games where the middle forwards aren’t doing their job adequately then he will be regarded as overrated in my opinion.

Far from a pack leader and needs people around him to make him look good right now.
