Tahu walks out on NSW, Joey stands down

What the hell Tahu? Making such a big deal, sure Joey did the wrong thing, but Tahu has been playing sports/league since he was young, i'm sure he'd hear things like that all the time, but to walk out of your origin team WTF, he obviously doesn't care enough about being in the team if he's going to leave over that.

Oh well, Johns was heaps in the wrong here ... I see why Tahu has made the statement he has, but it's a shame it couldn't have been done so it had less impact on the Blues preparations!

I feel sorry for Tahu and Johns right now ... as for Meninga just on the Footy Show saying Inglis is upset ... well that's blowing it out of proportion!!!

Thank god, as much as I loved Joey as a player, he needs to stand down as a coach. After game 1, NSW players were disappointed with Joey for taking over the role of captain, telling the team what to do everytime he ran on, he has done the same with Mullen and Dureau at Newcastle. Let them play their own way, and stop telling them how and what to do

Agreed! He was getting over involved. At times I thought he was the coach.

Although I dislike Tahu and what he has done... I understand the way he does see it from, and I don't want to offend anyone here however.

Aboriginals see it as 'us against everyone else'. When they arent in teams or arent treated better than other races they hate it. QLD have a motto of letting them play (although they have Thurston, Inglis, Thaiday who would play in a World Team let alone QLD side)

Yet the excuse is down here that the NSW side wont play blokes like Preston Campbell because of his race.

I don't agree. And to me Tahu was just another case of 'I'm picking up my ball and walking home'.

Gotta disagree Inglis has more right to be offended.
Really ****ed off at Tahu, he seems llike he was looking for any excuse to get out of the team and a quasi offensive statement not made to him or about him causes him to leave his team he's no better then SBW.

OK....Joey should watch his mouth, but for god's sake, is Tahu that precious that he didn't have the balls to stand up and chip Johns about it? I daresay that Johns would have realised that he was wrong.
if my kid reacted like Tahu I would be very disappointed............ That should be his last rep game........... Go back to Union Tahu, they deserve you!

Tahu should put on a dress and play netball or is that sexist?

I see Mundine wants all indigenous people and players to boycott origin two ... does that guy think before he talks? Over one tiny incident like that. He's obviously still fuming coz he was never good enough to play more than one game for NSW!

I saw Richie Barnett on the NZ presentation of the Warriors game and he interestingly enough said Tahu was over-reacting and Johns shouldn't have got in trouble for it.

Hahaha, QLD indigenous players boycott origin, theywill be left without Inglis, Tonga, Thurston, Thaiday, and whoever else.

IMO, pretty unprofessional of Joey Johns to say what he said, I myself have a problem with the behaviour of aboriginal groups (not in football etc) but Joey would have played with and against 100s of indigenous players, so would have a strong personal connection to them, and their race, to be so blunt and harsh about them. Like Johns said, he has known Tahu for alot of years, so surely after that many years, looking past the color of a mans skin should be very simple.

Wait for the medical excuse Johns will come up with now, then write a book about it

Mundine - god he sh*ts me! I think Tahu has over-reacted anyway.

Well mate, thats your opinion, he is indigenous, so he does find comments like that as rather offensive, and having Joey there as a mentor saying **** like that, shows how unprofessional he is, Tahu was within his rights to leave, and i dont blame him.

However, had he not left, noone would have ever known that happened.

I do however, think channel 9 saying they will back him etc etc is a joke. 12 months ago that hussy that the Sharks players (inc Matt JOhns) all tangled with came out saying what happened, which was consensual sex with players and staff, not rape, just some groupie wanting sausage. And 9 dropped him like a Knights half back. Now Joey has been done with drugs, now this, and they are backing him up. Matt Johns = the number 1 brother

Not that I dont like him, which i dont. But what he said was wrong, and its not the first time he has done something which makes himself and the game (which is going down the toilet anyway) ****

Yes what joey did was wrong bad choice of words however what tahu did is an insult to Origin football he has let his team down, he should have been the better man and spoke to joey about it not run to bellamy

Exactly what I think.. He should have sat down and talked about it!

Funny, I wonder if any of Slater's team mates were going to walk out when he said something that is socially just as bad, And probally has more long term social effects - Obviously im talking about depression. I guess its a case of what if, but maybe someone on his team had someone who was affected by depression in it.

Inglis, Can't take it when its about the colour of his skin. But won't say a thing when its one of the lowest sledges ever said on a sporting feild. I think its him just trying to get some attention. It's stupid.

Tahu is an immature grub. Grow the hell up!!

He could have tapped Joey on the shoulder when it was said and told him he was out of line and gave him an opportunity to apologize to both himself and Inglis for the slip of the tongue but has instead turned this into a flaming circus with fools out to try and down Joey at every opportunity they get.

I thank the good lord that 95% of you who have posted in this thread have seen it for what it is; a storm in a tea cup.

Tahu is the lowest of the low for what he has done!! He had days to think about it and knew what this would've done but has gone and stabbed his mate in the back. I hope he is never picked for the blues again and I would personally like to see him gone from the game altogether.

What Joey said was wrong but did it really need to come to this? He ain't the best of talkers most of the time and I myself have been guilty of saying it myself even though I have mates from different backgrounds including that of aboriginal.

It's a freaking expression for crying out loud. It doesn't make him a flaming racist and all that kids talk.

Smell my finger meninga has now came out and has blown the whole debacle wide open by stating such stupid things like 'All of Inglis's family, friends and teammates have rallied around him' haha what the hell?!? Inglis has a right to be annoyed and upset about it but come on lets get real here; this was just a silly little comment by a passionate blues man. I've seen worse by footballers who bash and hit their wives, that's something worth talking about.

I've never seen something so ridiculous get so blown out of proportion.

I hope you're happy timana, big sook.

P.S

You'd be better off spending a couple of months down at the bay for treachery and to man up a little.

If that had been said in a pub, with an indigenous person present, Joey woulda been dragged outside and flogged. Thats the way most of them indigenous guys work. They stick together, like most minorities do.

It is an exageration of sorts, but tonight on the news was said that Tahu has said, that he has been hearing those remarks from Joey since he was a junior with the Knights.

It is unacceptable for a mentoring player, that is held in high regard amongst players of rugby league to be speaking of a player like that.

Indigenous people do feel strongly about that subject, I myself say it all the time, but i do pick my times to say it if you know what i mean.

Its another blemish in the game of league tho, and it doesnt surprise me. I think it coulda been handled differently, but I think its wrong to say he is a sook, obviously theres something going on if 2 words can drive him outta camp as quick as he got there
