great to see our boys in the squad. Ricky stuart should be a good origin coach i hope he can get us back in the winners books.

Great squad! Hope Patto gets a good, it'd be good for him! Same as Uate. I hope Mullo gets another crack as well, he hasn't had a go since 2007. :)
 
i like it alot but personally i think he should have waited till 2 or 3 weeks into the season to see who is really emerging, as well as the players listed above

Would have been hard to get them all together for a camp if they left it until then.
 
They've almost named every player in the NRL! But oddly - no McManus, which I find ridiculous.

It'll be a million years or a lot of injuries before Mullen or Paterson play for NSW.

I think if he really turns it on and Pearce starts a slow season, they will give him a crack, Who knows really. Yeah I cant work out their selections, David Williams is another they threw on the scrap heap and I thought he played really well, tough player.
 
No surprise really McManus & Williams aren't in it. One has only played 7 or 8 games since his last Origin game in early 2009, while the other hasn't played since the first round of the 2009 Finals Series! You can't expect them to actually be in contention for a Blues jersey at this point!

Plus if there is anybody more hated by NSW than Kurt Gidley when it comes to Origin...it's the Wolfman. haha That guy messed up bigtime.

If Williams ever goes near a blues jersey again I might start supporting QLD. To say he messed up big time is an understatement. :lol:

They've even named people like Stuart Mills who I have never even heard of and probably will be an outside chance to even be consistent first graders! :lol:
 
Yeah he's gone a little over the top in naming NYC players i think. Stewart Mills is from the Sharks, Ricky Stuart is coach, says it all. ;) Haha but yeah since he's coach & Luke Douglas is in the squad, you'd have to think Luke's a certainty for a long-awaited NSW jersey! He's one of my favourite players & have always thought he's been hard done by the rep selectors, i mean he hasn't even played City-Country yet!! Can't wait to see him run out in Country & Blues colours this year!

Billy Slater has also messed up big time more then once, should he never touch a QLD or Australian jersy again?

Err ... some of the players on that list have barely played first grade at all though! Drury Low's played like two games.

Possibly the worst rep player ever ... he also got dominated in the losing world cup final side.

Ricky's secret Origin summit

RICKY STUART yesterday took the first step towards dismantling Queensland's five-year stranglehold on State of Origin when he held a secret meeting with seven of the state's biggest stars.

Locked away in a room at Cronulla's Rydges Hotel for three hours, Stuart unveiled his plan to restore state pride.

He addressed senior NSW players Paul Gallen, Kurt Gidley, Greg Bird, Luke Lewis, Jarryd Hayne and Mitchell Pearce and his backroom staff in his first major assignment as new NSW coach.

"I think we got a fair bit out of it," Bird said. "Everyone gave their opinions on what needs to improve and what they think can be done better. The main thing was to promote a bit of stability, which is probably something we have been lacking.

"Knowing Sticky and what he is about, he is definitely capable of achieving it. He will go away and work on some things after hearing what we all had to say."

In the first indication that he is poised to win a place in Stuart's new-look side, Dally M medal winner Todd Carney was also at the extraordinary meeting.
Players were invited to take ownership of the team and create a culture to match the passion of the all-conquering Maroons.

"It is good to catch up with Ricky and the boys and begin thinking about what we need to do," Gidley said. "It has been a few years since Ricky has been here and he is very excited about the role, as are we. This is where it all begins."

Unveiling his coaching and management team for the very first time, Stuart sat across from former Sharks playmaker Trent Barrett, trainer Ronnie Palmer and football manager Craig Young.
In his opening address, Stuart told the players he wanted to create a stable environment that would provide the platform to topple Mal Meninga and the Maroons.

"All of the guys here have played Origin before with the exception of Carney," Gidley said.
"So it is a good idea to get us all together and have a bit if a chat about what happened last year and also the future."

During the star-studded State of Origin conference, Stuart invited the players to put forward ideas and thoughts on how to improve the side and also the culture.
"There are some things that we can do better, and that's what this has all been about," Gidley said.

"There are some things we can do within the camps and with preparation that will help us improve. Mostly it was about catching up and bouncing around some ideas from the players and from Sticky."

Gidley applauded the NSWRL's move to employ a full-time coach.
"We had a bit of a chat about it and I think it takes a bit of pressure off him because he doesn't need to go back to his club team," Gidley said.

Gidley also backed Stuart to help NSW win back the coveted State of Origin trophy, last won by a Stuart- coached side in 2005.

"For sure," Gidley said. "It is a big possibility and we will go into the series with a lot of confidence."
After the meeting, Stuart took the players out on Port Hacking for a low-key bonding session.

Well for every major stuff up he's done he's probably won a game. He's proven himself at Origin level as well. Williams has barely proven himself at club level and he's proven he is NOT a rep player with the kind of crap he's come up with. For every try wolfman has scored at rep level (one?) he's come up with 5 errors.

Is this a joke?

He was one of the best wingers in the comp in 2008 and very solid in 2009, only had 1 bad game in Origin which has tarnished his name, like the rest of the NSW side. If he isn't a proven club performer I wouldn't know what is.
 
Steve Turner was the worst origin player ever...he isnt even good at club level, and was a product of a good system. Justin Ryder looked like an origin player at times in a good team.
