State of Origin 1, 2023

Freddie is a very talented coach, it takes skill to make a team stacked with the nucleus of the back to back Penrith premiers play this badly.
I think the obsession with picking Penrith players is part of the problem tbh. Club footy and rep footy aren’t the same thing. Penrith are still winning, but the main reason is their absurd defensive dominance - they get a lot of field position dominance and don’t actually convert it to points at a particularly high rate.

We’ve just seen the Blues get a lot of field position dominance, but struggle to construct points (2 very lucky tries in there). What a shock!

Also two of the most important players in how much they dominate field position - Leota and Fisher-Harris - aren’t eligible for the Blues.

That’s a shocking result. Queensland win by 30 if everything doesn’t go our way. Two options - sweeping changes, or a 3-0 sweep.

Haha go and tug your other one. When the hammer gets up there with gags games played and tries scored then we will talk.
Read again mate as I said he is clearly a better player right now. Don’t care what either have done in the past and it’s not a fair comparison considering one is a veteran while one is new to the arena.

Ponga isn't getting his jersey back btw. Can we really carry such an inflated salary for a guy who is a headknock away from retirement?
I don’t think Walsh was that good? He’ll keep the jersey cos they won, but I don’t think you can say he’s got a lock on the jersey going forward based on that game.

Did what he needed to do in attack, i thought he was very good defensively.
Perception is everything I guess. I think if Ponga finishes an Origin game with 80 run metres and 60% tackle efficiency, people would take it as more data supporting the anti-Kalyn agenda.

Exactly, not a fair comparison so why even say it? You're just being a pest.

He has another 2 games to lock it in and for mine it's his to lose now and he won't with how ponga is an absolute cat when it comes to fullback work.

I thought Brian To’o was the best player on ground. His work to get us on the front foot and earn all that field position was outstanding. Badly let down by his fraud teammates.

Queensland literally just hung in there, kept turning up play after play, and took their chances. They must feel so confident that when they get their chance, the Blues simply won’t get as many bodies behind the ball as they do.

I’m comparing the two players right now and right now the Hammer is the better player. What Gagai has done in the past doesn’t help him being the better player of the two right now.

They should look a lot more fluent with those connections though, they were so disjointed! These NSW players have also been together for a few years now, too.

Everyone besides To’o, Frizell and Martin can walk back to NSW.

Freddy is an absolute A-Grade tosser for some of the selections he’s made. Crichton and TPJ are woeful and shouldn’t be anywhere near an Origin jersey, Tedesco is washed and Hynes was a waste of a bench spot.

The fact they walked all over us with 12 men on the field and Teddy getting out jumped by a prop is a disgrace and says it all. No chance they win at Suncorp.
