Scott Dureau has surgery to remove a tumour behind his eye

Catalan Dragons scrum-half Scott Dureau faces a spell out of the game after undergoing surgery on a tumour behind his eye.

The 26-year-old had on operation on Wednesday in his native Australia and is now recovering.

The Super League club say the tumour was removed without any complications.

"It's bad news that affects the club in its entirety but we need to be united and strong and overcome it as a team," said coach Laurent Frayssinous.

"Scott must focus on his health and on his full recovery and we want to express our support to Scott and his family."

Dureau joined the French side from Newcastle Knights and was named in the 2011 and 2012 Super League Dream Teams as well as playing for the Exiles against England in the mid-season internationals.

I've been in touch with Scott's French-raised half-brother Pepé (former star of tv's Marathon Stadium Blind Date) and he is devastated. :(
 
Je suis triste pour Scott et Pepe.

What a crazy thing to happen, I don't know what sort of risks are involved in the surgery but I hope he's 100% soon.

PS. I had no idea Blind date was televised! I was just sitting here in my PJs when I was on, how embarrassing!! :o
 
Why do we care? He doesn't play here anymore but on another note did anyone see the picture they used for this story on the League Live iPhone app? They pictured Matt Hilder instead of Scott Dureau haha

Yeah mad dog retired though, scotty is playing for another. Club, when Dureau was here I was one of a few people who were actually fans of his, towards the end everyone wanted him gone but the games he played for us in his final year were pretty good with only about one objection

WHY DO WE CARE? I'll tell you why, it's because he is a human being mate! just because he doesn't play for us anymore doesn't mean he is any less important then someone who does!
I bet if you or someone you know had the same thing you would come on here and tell us about it. but because you don't play for the knights are supposed to not care???

Come on mate that's a bit harsh, mustn't be much of a true Newcastle fan if you don't care about someone who ran out wearing the red & blue with pride every match he got to play for us having a tumour.

Wow a lot of hate, of course I want him to get better and I was sad when he left, but I just meant like why is this knights news. He is at another club but ok yeah whatever get well scotty
