Sack Adam O’Brien

Genuinely classy response from AOB in the press conference. He looked so relieved and happy that it’s all been resolved.

Genuinely seems like a good guy and wanted to try and leave our club in a better place. Respect to him for that.

Not an easy job. He certainly took us to the next level despite all the naysayers and negativity that surrounded him.

While not a premiership, that 2023 run was and will remain a special part of our history especially with the cattle we had in that squad.

Thanks AOB, all the best in the future.

As much as we have bagged AOB and called for him to be sacked, he has always tried his best and as others on here have said, he has improved the club as a whole, that much im confident in.

It’s just his game plans were terrible

It’s honourable that he could see he has reached his limitations and put the club first.

I wish him well in his future

Credit to AOB for deciding to finish up early with the Knights and agreeing to a lesser payout than he was entitled to. It’s the best thing for the players, himself, the fans and the club.

We need a head coach who can build on his legacy.

With a fresh coach and a much improved roster for next year including the imminent signing of Mooney, there is much for long suffering Knights tragics to be excited about next season. Woo hoo!

If Smith or a similar player signs with us, that would give us a competitive roster for next year

You turned AOB into Darth Vader Lefty

It was clear to the majority of observers that we needed a fresh coach and in the end AOB agreed. This year has been demoralising for AOB, the players and most supporters.

Thankfully we can now look forward to better years ahead.
Tobe fair, Its the boards fault for whipping the horse until its confirmed death. Since when, in any sport, ever, has a club persisted with a failing coach (43% win rate) on the basis that the coach still believes they have value to contribute.

And only once the coach helplessly concedes to his own shortcomings, with home crowds booing him, are the board forced to replace him. Absolutely ridiculous behaviour.

AOB is clearly a good bloke. Unfortunately for Knights fans, the real fools still holds the reins of power.

Very good press conference, AOB came across as very genuine and in a way seemed relieved to have made the decision.
Wish him well in the future.
This is the exact reason i found it hard to want him to go, i think hes a tremendous person and ambassedor of our club. Unfortunately, he just couldn't get the results we need. Wish him the best for the future wouldn't be unhappy for him to be an assistant coach or similar role with us in the future.

At least till November 1st.

Just watching the presser now.

Key moment for me was when he said when he arrived there was a real air of optimism to the joint. Now though that optimism is gone and it's turned from optimism to pessimism. He can't turn that around, he recognises that, so he's going.

I still think we kept him a few seasons too long. He came in after Brown, got us in to fighting for the 8, our defence is better than it's been in a long time save the last part of the season, but he topped out at that, couldn't take us to the next level we need to be going to.

They had a decent stretch of games dating back to that comeback against Manly and even the losses against the Storm and Raiders were not much to be ashamed of after being in it for over half the game. If they had won a couple of those ones they really shouldn’t have lost…

Last three weeks…were probably the result of some of those tough losses, the roosters, warriors etc…injuries piling up. Just had nothing left for these last few blowout weeks which aren’t surprising. I can understand him realising it may be time to give someone else a go with Brown coming and Ponga being a pending free agent. Plenty of time to find someone and get them to hit the ground running for preseason.

Fought the good fight despite losing guys every week for the season, but I don’t doubt he will be a head coach again at some point.

Ok he’s gone (going)
I think the issues run deeper than sacking AOB
The money they are paying for that under performing hack Brown, must be having an effect on morale within the group, plus Ponga’s salary taking up 27% of the cap for 2 players, has to be pissing off quite a few players causing some disharmony and decent.
It will be interesting to see how the new coach deals with that if I’m correct.
Take it easy with the replies guys.
