Round 19: Newcastle Knights vs Wests Tigers

I did see anything noticeably poor from him. Admittedly I was at the ground and the view was terrible.
I was there and agree the view sucked. Funny thing was I didn't notice the back rowers so much as ramien just being monstered and doing silly things.

Hoping the Roosters game was a second version of the Titans game, following which we discovered some form. Pearce, Ponga and Levi/Watson need some big games for us to have a chance. We'll need to bring back some decent line speed in defence, which is something we've been missing the past few weeks.

Probably, but that doesn't = 36 points in a half - team effort for the blame of that game

It was a woeful team effort in the second half but as I have said before Barnett 8 tackles, which was more than anyone else.

Rather he missed 8 making the effort than not making it. Hard position to defend, yes missing 8 is not good, but missing a tackle doesn’t lead to scoring etc if rest of team move together and man alongside gets an easier tackle for it. Stats are not the be all or end all.
With Fitz out and Guerra struggling to come back I think Barnett is a must have in the side with Sione on the bench and Buhrer 18th man

The reason teams do their own stats is because many of them are misleading, and missed tackles is the stat that has to be taken in context more than any other.
Woolf will go through all the tries and linebeaks and look at who was at fault, and often guys like Barnett who has a red hot go in defence won't be at fault if he got a hand on a guy after covering a lot of ground, and some other guys who didn't even touch the guys will have to explain WTF they were doing while someone strolled through where they should have been.
A good example - a few weeks ago I was watching some reserve grade highlights and 3 tries were scored by Moga's opposite number, right through where Moga should have been defending. His winger was given 3 missed tackles, and you could see Moga in the highlights got a really close look at the tries being scored.
I doubt that Brown and Woolf even bother looking at the official NRL missed tackle stats.

So are some good/better or is it a degree of bad/worse.
Easier to accept if that is the norm, not many on here that are happy with any ref.
Can’t believe some actually have statistics for win/losses of ref’s handling our games

We are playing in the worst timeslot in footy so no doubt the worst refs get given it.

If we want to get better refs, we need to get better on the field, and get the better television timeslots to get the better refs.

I'm not convinced about Barnett's value to the side, time will tell.

Lol, you blokes complain about the refs no matter who they are. Don't think they had much to do with the ordinary performances the last few weeks.

And if we lose tomorrow we won't be playing finals.

Not at that point yet, but sure it will make it a tough road ahead.

Hopefully they reflect on the start to the year they had which put them in this position. A few wins there would have made all the difference now.
