Round 17 Panthers V Knights - Saturday 24 June 5:30pm - BlueBet Stadium, Penrith

Sounds like a good one to have missed on my final full day in Bali.

Back to NZ tomorrow and the sad reality of watching the Knights play. 😢

We've always got next year to look forward to!

The knights have scored 57 tries this year and Dom Young has scored or assisted 32% of them.

Ok, maybe not.
I look forward to next year if we have a different coach, because they we can start to turn things around.

Dylan Lucas topped the tackle count for the second week in a row - 47 this week, 52 last week.
He only ran short metres both weeks.
If you'd have asked me 2 weeks ago I'd have said he'll run a lot of metres but will struggle to have the fitness to defend in the forwards and might only be good for 20 tackles.
Elliott looked good I thought, but I see he missed 13 tackles. A middle forward can't do that.
That’s just appalling form by our big off season signing. I don’t rate him at all

Had the ball with about 2 minutes left, 8 points down, desperately need a try. Sure it's unlikely, but we didn't even look like we wanted to try. Just looked ready for the game to end. That is massive red flags, think the confidence is getting shot now after failing to grab the 2 points in some close ones lately. Can't even jag a win anymore.
Think you had a 20m tap or got the ball back in open play and was yelling out to kick it in behind for Young to chase before Edwards got back into position. But alas they just played the set out without firing a shot.

He was ripping in though, a lot of those misses were rushing up to come up with strong first up contact or prevent players getting over the ad line, where he slowed blokes down and others completed the tackle. I’m not bothered by the misses because the breaks and half-breaks didn’t go through where he was defending.

As I say constantly - tackle efficiency stats are so misleading as to be almost meaningless. The stats say we had better tackle efficiency than Penrith today. Didn’t really show on the scoreboard or in yardage.

Watched this game for about 10 minutes then had seen enough and switched it to the Super Rugby final. Poor again tonight.

Still gutted we are losing Young to the Roosters next year but Hetherington has shown to be a real dud for us and is on overs.

That game tonight is more proof that AOB should be sacked. Wests Group need to stop being tight for once and move on from him. Get McDermott or Bedsy in as interim coach and see if they can trying something different with the fellas for the remainder of the year before we get a new head coach.

I must say we weren’t terrible and Penrith even without the missing players were close to perfect. Defensively we were pretty good but our attack was bad and has been getting worse the last few weeks.

Hastings in particular has been average recently . Overall his season has been good but the last few weeks have been disappointing. He’s not creating the shape he was and his kicking has regressed. He needs to be better.

Drove down to Penrith for the game, fmd never again.

Attention to detail just not there. Everytime we got half a chance we would drop the bloody ball, it was an abysmal performance.

I think we might need to just realise we are a bottom of the table team and probably about where we should be on the ladder..

One of his first bombs of the game went up from halfway and only went 20 metres. He really needs to get them down on their own try line with chasers and make them work their way out. It’s been far too easy for teams the last month or more.

Just seen the Storm Sea Eagles post game on FOX and Christian Welch quietly mentioned to Craig Bellamy in their press conference "how did the Knights not win, Panthers had no one".

Even the opposing players are giving it to us. Not that I expected the Knights to win tonight against even a under manned Panthers side.

Did anyone notice the amount of forward passes we threw
I could hear the crowd yelling and penrith players putting their arms up
Then the commentary said no forward passes this week not today

It was funny but also dissapointing

Some from Gamble

Defensively we were pretty good

I agree but also the panthers and their NSW cup halves didn't throw much at us inside the attacking 20. Kept it super simple, happy to keep turning the ball back inside and attack the middle third.

our attack was bad

Put that on the pack and kicking game, not going to score points when you don't have a play the ball inside the opponents 20 until the second half.

i think our best forward was the oldest guy in the team who was backing up from playing on Wednesday night, what's that say about the rest of 'em? :fist:
need new halves and a "star" who doesn't go missing for an entire half of football.
