Young went too early. Had plenty of time to properly lock that up.
Happy with the chase but Young is still learning how to tackle….they don’t teach that in England - it will take him a while for his defensive reads and technique to get up to NRL standard.

on a side note how good was Brailey’s effort to be there and chasing at the death again

Happy with the win and the way we ground that game out….those conditions always turn these games into an arm wrestle and we found a way to come out on top.

Positives for me:

* Brailey has been our best buy in a very long time…best hooker we’ve had since Bedsy
* having 3/4 of our best available spine is nice but we need to have all on deck and to stay healthy to build some cohesion and combinations for the rest of this season
* our Defence was solid and held up for the whole game - defence didn’t cost us our only try against us
* having Hymel back is a big plus for our game, particularly in coming out of our red zone on kick returns
* our most consistent back rower ( Frizzel ) is yet to come back and will improve this side again

I’m not getting overly excited about 1 win…but I do think we can finish the season stronger than we started - whether we get to play finals or not, we need to see improvement from here on out

Just seen a team on a rugby leauge site if they had to name a second string nsw side. And they had J saf on the bench so its not just us die hard newcastle fans that think he is not that far off. They also had klemmer at starting prop and brailey at hooker.
Well he’s probably a Newcastle/NSW fan then. After our year I don’t know how many neutrals would tune in to analyse our games. 😂

But the crackdown has no financial benefit for the NRL according to wank stains like Kent and Hooper?
I'd definitely find it hard to believe considering what's happened through covid etc. Gotta make $$ somehow. It's probably supposed/should to go to charities.

So a mile off… on the bench in the second team that hasn’t got injured/suspended players included.

He would need a “Sione-esque” run of injuries to get a look in at this stage of his career.

I would not call that a mile off but if thats your opinion that is ok.

JSaf is a mile off of SOO
A mile is a bit harsh, fitter had already mentioned him last season so it's not too far fetched just has a few in front of him.

I would play him if DSaf was injured you are getting much of the same slightly less yardage but a quicker play the ball

For a big fella seems like Young get smashed every hit up he takes. Maybe he needs that footwork when hitting up the line just to get the defenders off footed maybe.
Also im liking Clifford you could tell how much more impact it rubs off on Pearce.

He's all limbs isn't he. Doesn't seem too hard to get up under his legs with his current running style. Hopefully Edrick can teach him before we ship him off.
