He's all limbs isn't he. Doesn't seem too hard to get up under his legs with his current running style. Hopefully Edrick can teach him before we ship him off.
Yeah being so tall in the leg puts a perfect tackle without actually trying. He needs to try get down lower on impact and use his pec/hips. Once that happens all sorts of good stuff can happen like offloads etc.

Warriors here, sorry for delay in getting back to you, life gets in the way sometimes. No argument your blokes deserved it. It really shows where we are, not quite there with some good effort. Some strong rumours we are signing Lodge, I have doubts around that

As for the Cricket, getting more confident. Both teams have to have good planning here on out. That is our advantage, we are the best at implementing plans. For the longest time we could only field about 8 players of Test standard so had to plan and ruthlessly execute those plans. That is the secret behind this team. Having Jameison helps as well.

Hi Watcher, sorry the game didn't go your way, I actually really enjoyed the arm wrestle. Watching RTS for the last time live was amazing. That guy is just elite. But you guys have got a good one in Walsh as a replacement!!

I was wondering what you were saying about Fuisitua (sp?) the other day. He is on the outer as well? I thought you guys had a scary good wing pairing at the start of the year, now neither is in Brown's plans? I'd take him here for sure.

For a big fella seems like Young get smashed every hit up he takes. Maybe he needs that footwork when hitting up the line just to get the defenders off footed maybe.
Also im liking Clifford you could tell how much more impact it rubs off on Pearce.
I just watched the game again and Young didn't get smashed or pushed back much at all .. Once he got pushed back but so did Jones next play but the rest of runs he didnt make a lot of meters but didn't lose ground much .

I have to say that I didn't notice if he was pushed back in the Warriors game.
I don't have the game taped, so couldn't look at it again, but I didn't notice during the game, and I remember thinking during his first game that he made several very strong runs and was even offloading with several defenders on him.
If he was over powered by his opposite number in the Warriors game, I'd put that down to his opposite doing a very good job, because I don't think a lack of power is a problem Young has.

He’s got a lot of similarities to Jason Saab. Saab better under the high ball but I think young can become a destructive ball runner.
His contact in defence had been most impressive.

Because he is so tall defenders have got under him a couple of times and pushed him back. But he has also broken out of the first tackle a few times and generally had the power to find his front and get a good play the ball in the other day even after being rushed by the defence. A bit green with how he runs, another off season will do him good, but I have no worries about him bringing the ball out of our end.

If I can compare him to another tall winger in Daniel Tupou, I used to be mystified how much someone as big as Tupou used to get manhandled. For mine, he has sorted that out in the last couple of years and is now a massive weapon on early carries, but it took him years. I don't think Young has the same problems.

Young is only 19 and will get a lot stronger in time.
But strangely, 18 year old Bailey Hodgson is surprisingly strong for a guy who looks about 12. Maybe it's just because you don't expect but it's almost a shock when he breaks out of tackles by big, strong forwards. He has 18 tackle breaks in 3 games - more than double the amount of Simi Sasagi and Dylan Lucas in the same games.

There's a lot of Robbie O about Hodgson - very busy player, always looking for work, unusually strong and fit for a little guy, very self-confident.

Not just Young lack of power in tackles though, abit risky under the high ball in that game...and that goal line drop out where he just let it bounce out into play lol
Again he still 19 soo hard to judge but damm kid catch it have to in first grade

Never expected that either Young or Hodgson would play 1sts this season was looking at next. Here we are, admittedly due to injury but Young has shown enough to be considered a option for 1sts, Hodgson working well towards that and it might happen this year if Ponga continues to be out, on form Hodgson is putting pressure on Hoy who is not showing good form. If with 3-4 weeks to go we are no chance of semis then give Hodgson a go especially if it means resting Ponga and getting him fit

Kia-ora watcher...it was a bit of a shame that weather had some impact on the way the game ended up being played but I must admit, I was quite happy with our effort in defence. I was also quite surprised that you guys didn't make more of the breeze in the first half to put us under defensive pressure/come up with more deep kicks and maybe a few 40/20s, etc.

I think the impact of having Gus Gould involved will bring some longer term benefits and give you some surety that Brown has some smart guidance when and where it might be necessary.

Good luck for the rest of the year mate and as always...appreciate and enjoy your contributions to this forum 👍

I watch the replays on the NRL site as many times as you want .

God i hope thats true about Hodgson because Robbie O was one of the most skillful players you will ever meet.

Joey said the other day that he loved playing in the wind but he prefered playing into the wind he found it easier .

he is well known in the UK for having feet for hands. it was a tough day for anyone under the ball though.

The greatest exhibition Joey ever gave was on a wild windy day back in 2001 when we thrashed the Raiders at Marathon. Foul weather for kickers but Joey landed 7 from 8 in a brilliant exhibition, apart from scoring and setting up tries as well. 🌦️
