They might be trying to preserve his knees - not from the actual kicking, but from the tackle that generally comes if you are caught with the ball. Tacklers aren't supposed to go for the knees, but stuff happens.

It seemed really deliberate this match so thought that there may be something in it..
 
A good improvement, I'm pretty happy with that. It's hard not to feel that twinge in the guts because they lost, but it's a good improvement on last year already. It'll be a long year but I believe there will be some smiles for 2017.
On a side note, I believe we should all get our pitchforks out & burn Brock Lamb on the cross! The guy is rubbish, even his team mates don't want to know him, leaving him to tackle on his on on the line. If he was any good we'd have flogged them
 
Pythian: Looked slick, chimed in well in our shapes and took pressure off Hodko and Lamb with solid kicks and a beautiful 40/20. Very unlucky to get injured.
Sio: Made 72 metres but was relatively quiet throughout the game.
Gagai: One of our best in the trial and the Indigenous All Stars game, yet one of our worst today. Disappointed with his game.
P Mata'utia: Solid at best. Great chase for the opening try and was safe when he went to fullback.
Ross: Equal second best with Levi IMO. Always trying to find an opportunity, safe as houses under the high ball, scored a quick double, 179 metres.
Lamb: Hot and cold. Put in a few decent high balls but looked lost in defence at times (Hoffman try not all his fault). Will only improve.
Hodko: Same as Lamb. Needs to take a bit more control especially on those important last play opportunities. Missed a number of them today.
D Saifiti: Beast. Continued on his 2016 form. 113 metres in 40 minutes, we lost momentum when he left the field.
Levi: Our equal second best with Ross. Looked sharp out of dummy half, exposed tired forwards around the ruck and we also lost momentum when he left the field.
Starling: Did a solid job. 87 metres and 18 tackles in 35 minutes. Our defence seemed more composed and crisp with him and Daniel on at the same time.
S Mata'utia: He's a goer. Tries his heart out all game. 34 tackles all up while playing two different positions.
Buhrer: 109 metres, 42 tackles and 0 misses in an 80 minute performance. Thought he tightened our defence up. Made a critical error at the end but was great for 99%.
Barnett: Our best on the field - absolute machine. Made 126 metres, 49 tackles with 0 missed. Produced an amazing try assist for Ross. Will be one of our best this year.

Yates: Should be happy with his debut. 96 metres and 24 tackles. Makes good metres post contact and tackles above his weight. I'd have him in again for Round 2.
Stockwell: Scored a good try to get us back in the game. Wasn't in much attack-wise but still churned out 28 tackles. Still seems a bit suspect holding the ball though.
Stone: Didn't get much game time so didn't have much of an impact. Spot may be safe for next week with ISP guys performing poorly.
J Saifiti: Got through a fair work-load defensively with 25 tackles, made an error in great attacking field position, still is a beast though (just not as much as Daniel..yet.)

I thought he looked sharp. He's a really consistent performer IMO and has a confidence about him I really like.
 
I know we all see things differently but anyone who couldn't get at least a little excited by Levi's game today is at best very hard to please. We actually looked like a decent NRL side for a period in the first half when he was getting us on the front foot.

Levi been pretty good so far this year.

He made 30 tackles and missed 1. Last year against the Warriors they were running at Levi and he missed 7 to 10 tackles a game against them - his worst for the season.
We know he has a great running game when he wants to use it, and his 4 runs in this game all came in his second stint on the field I think, when he could use his energy up without worrying about falling in a hole.
As he gets fitter and more experienced he'll know when to run and when to save his energy.

Not trolling. Just wanted to see if you'd admit he played well. Considering what a terrible player you think he is.
