ROUND 1 - Knights V Warriors - Friday 3 March, 6:00pm - Sky Stadium, Wellington

I just don’t agree with this:

Earlier ball, off a longer run.

Last night was all at the line.
Also playing again boys there , men now. Can't live in the past if these guys are supposed to be our future. What about his defensive reads & error rate. ?

I think Elliot was just massively underdone.
Whoever signed on for him to play should hang their heads, joke.

Also boys and girls put away the razor blades round 1 and our spine has had 40 mins together before this, very new yeam
And best by 8 and would have won easy if ponga wasn’t pulled off. Ref was all over us and warriors had a free pass.

Let’s wait 5 weeks before going woke.

What does this post even mean?

Dunno how much rugby league you’ve watched in recent years, but most would consider Sebastian Kris and Jordan Rapana to be a better class of player than Adam Pompey and Edward Kosi…

Agree but they looked a lot better then him last night . As I said can't live in the past.Any way as Lord said it's week one . I'm sure Obi will have the kinks out & have us fired up for the tigers

Don’t think you really understood my point

There was nothing stopping the coach running our spine in the trial games for the full 80 minutes. After last year and with a completely different spine surely you would do that. The 40 mins they played against Parra wasn't that impressive either.

Now that all the dissapointed drinkers have gone to bed, it might be time to be realistic about this game without fear of abuse.
The Warriors had a lot to play for in their first home game in years and they put in a pretty good effort.
Wellington, famously known as the Windy City, has always been a tough place for away sides to play.
Despite that, and despite us needing a lot more time playing together to gel as a team, we were in with a solid chance for most of the game. Losing Frizz and Pong at bad times hurt us a lot, but those things happen.
I saw enough to say the new spine works and that our squad is decent enough.
A win would have been nice, but a tough day at the office for the boys against a team that really wanted and needed that win and were never going to be easy.

You have to be the type of bloke that walks in on his mrs with another man and finds positives out of the situation 😉

I don't know by the comments how many on the forum actually watch the game without pre-conceived ideas, Sutton was ordinary with more attention to the ten then the ruck, the knights need quick ruck speed, Frizzel concussion stuffed up the bench rotation with elliot and herthington getting longer minutes than planned, the warriors third try was extremely lucky as tuala fell off as he was taken out by player tackled on his inside, that's what created the gap, mann and ponga incidents in the last ten minutes. The main is they showed a lot more than they did last year, with a little bit of finesse they would have won. As for the wind, did you see how far the posts were moving?

Miller: Passable but he wouldn't be in any top 8 teams 17 let alone starting fullback.

Hunt: Effort but errors at important times

Enari: Didn't notice him?

Best: Needs EARLY ball not flat at the line

Young: Can go sip lattes in Bondi next week not worth 400k

Ponga: Too many unforced errors, defended well. Still plays touch footy though...

Hastings: Couldn't keep a halves spot at the tigers says a lot, kicking game is a 5/10.

DSaf: Okay

Brailey: Too slow said this before his injuries and now I think he is not the answer... my biggest take is we talk about replacing johns but we have never replaced Danny Buderus who makes John's a better player IMO.

JSaf: Needs to improve, look for offloads and stop falling over at first contact...

Tyson: Went okay but doesn't offer a lot in attack..

Fitz: One of his better games, still needs to improve and learn to run those inside shoulder lines more often.

Mann: Wouldn't be in any other teams starting 13 in the NRL.

Crossland: Reserve grade at best, does look okay out of dummy half.

Elliot: Never rated him but he is well underdone can't judge him on that performance

Hetherington: Rate him but same as above.

Leo: Improving I like what I see

Overall very poor attack with no decoys and one of the worse kicking games in the comp.

Issue is I don't see much changing with the attack...

Unless the scrap everything they did on the off season this flat, no offloads and one out forwards isn't going to trouble the wooden spooners.

Defensively not good, 4 tries against a very average warriors attack isn't a good sign.

Bring on next week and let's see if we can improve

mate did you watch the game? the kicks were clearly wind affected
Yeah I managed to catch a bit of it.
