Round 1 2016 Team

If you take Mataora out, put Korbin starting at prop and Stockwell off the bench I'd be pretty happy with the team.

Not sure what the plan is for Levi. It looks like Brown doesn't want a hooker on the bench and with Randell in the leadership group I can't see him getting dropped this season

Looking forward to seeing Bhana go around. Heard he's a Hilder clone, a player like that will be handy as buggary with the reduced interchange as Slotmachine mentioned above.

I thought Korbin was our least impressive player in that trial Mataora out played him and was playing good footy at the back end of last year too...

Not sure about Mataora starting but that's a bench full of impact which is good to see. The size of our team will be underrated this year, we have some huge boys throughout the 17 now. If there's one thing I'm excited about it's the complete unpredictability of this side and I'm sure the unpredictability of Brown's axe when players aren't performing.

I think 99% of people wanted Feeney to develop into our fullback, everyone sees the potential there. Although if Feeney didn't get the spot then there was a debate about Mamo or Gagai but I don't remember anyone saying they'd want Mamo over Feeney.

I'm here and I take whatever Toohey says with a teaspoon of Epson Salts. Both give the same result.

Mamo for #1!

Brown is taking some incredible gambles.
Feeney playing his first game of fullback and his first NRL game is the biggest gamble since reserve grade second rower Rudder was dropped into 5/8 in firstgrade.
The Saifiti boys both debuting at 19.
Bhana dropped straight into firstgrade.
Pat Mat is the least of his gambles. At least Pat has played 2 years of reserve grade in the position - but he does tend to have brain fades at times and does some pretty stupid things.

An interesting sub-plot is that Tyrone Roberts and Feeney are very good friends, and Roberts will have the job of exposing Feeney as not being ready to play fullback in firstgrade. Their first conversation after the game will be an interesting one - whichever way it goes.

I don't see it as a gamble ...A gamble would be droping good players in a winning team to put these young guys in they're place but that's not the case . He is putting in young guys that wont win much this year but once they get the experience over a year or so then boy watch out .
I will bet Browns biggest gamble was taking on this team all decisions after that are easy I would think .
At least the Saifiti's are having a go better them than the blokes who were told to have a go and didn't because they thought they were in the team anyway .
From what I read Bhana was on the cusp of 1st grade at the warriors and earnt a spot in this side. All these guys are here because they had a go in the trial ... Feeney may well get shown up as inexperienced at F/B but that's why he is there to get experience for the next few years ....This is what happens when a coach tells you to go hard and you DONT especially when you are the wooden spooners .
