I was just wondering, what is the criteria for Rookie of the year? Joel Edwards has been named a favourite but didn't he debut last year?
i think that if you play less than 3 matches in your first season that your still eligible for the rookie of the year award in the next season. did edwards debut this year or last?
Daly Cherry-Evans (who will win by the length of the straight)
Will Hopoate
Tariq Sims
Elijah Taylor
Kalifa Fai Fai Loa
5 players who would win it in front of Joel Edwards.
But Edwards is just a defensive machine, technically superior. Also not being in the starting line-up regularly would affect his chances.
Elijah Taylor has made 436 tackles in 12 games, Edwards has made 311 in 12 games.
Tariq Sims has made 252 hit-ups in 13 games, Edwards has made 186 in 12 games.
Edwards is a weapon no doubt and sometimes its how you tackle not how many (allthough lots is good too)his tackle on hayne was worth any 10 other tackles in that game did you see his team mates slapping him on the back it lifted them.Edwards reads the play in defense so well and his tackling style is bueatifull , but he isnt making the yards with the ball but that will come. He is still only the second best tackler i have seen lately though, the other is an 8 yr old playing for nelson bay blues under 9s cant remember his name now but he has come up to play with my u10s side and let me tell you this kid makes edwards look ordinary lol no joke never seen anyone tackle as hard or as often in my time as a kids coach and trainer i have never seen anyone like this kid .
I disagree state of mind is everything and a tackle like that can change the way a team are thinking and playing so imo its not the same as any other tackle .
Stats mean nothing to what I tried to say, I said he is technically superior not that he makes more tackles than the other forwards.
.You said he was a defensive machine, I'd suggest that Elijah Taylor is more of a defensive machine.
You don't win rookie of the year for having an excellent tackling technique or for blind-siding Hayne (although maybe you should).

A) It did come up with an error.B) You're kidding yourself if you don't think a big hit can have a positive effect on the team. The sport is played by people, not robots. Emotion plays it's part, and you could see that tackle pumped the players up.Actually its only worth one. Unless it comes up with an error it is no different then a normal tackle.
