RLWC 2026

Doesn’t look like the closest round of matches in week two.

Yeah wow, could be a rough week.

Yet another problem of having a condensed World Cup with a bizarre group structure that means Tonga/Samoa/England are incentivised to punish minnow nations to bolster their PD in order to make the finals. In previous WCs with bigger groups and larger squads you would've seen more players rotated in these matches, alongside more tier 2 vs minnow matchups.

Looking for diamonds in the rough as many outliers get a chance to shine.
Could be a few good games in there, always interesting to see how PNG measure up against quality opposition. England might be at a low ebb and France should be fired up after the weekend. And Fiji pushed NZ all the way in the quarters of the last tournament, would be great to see them give Australia a good fight too.

I really love the World Cup, even for the sides that aren’t as competitive as they hope, the passion and support on display is so cool to watch.

Disappointing to see people run it down, but that’s life I guess!

The Tonga v Samoa game in Western Sydney on Nov 1 will probably be the most important game of the WC.
There are already calls to move it for Commbank stadium to accor so 70k can get tickets - half red and half blue.
The TV ratings have set records for WC games since 2008 - in a world where free to air ratings are a fraction of what they were even 10 year ago, let alone 20.
Tonga and Samoa should both go into this game undefeated and in sparkling form.
It should be a great event.

What a game it's going to be! That 2008 World Cup was such an enjoyable one, and it seemed really well run. If this one can emulate that then we'll be going well.
