PS. Surely Farnsworth's over $1m deal for a bloke who is a great player, but who will get 30-40 less touches of the ball per game than Brown will give some context to the Brown deal.

Yeah the Brown deal isn’t POS being wildly long in his valuation of a rep calibre player. He got in early. Herbie getting over a million to play centre tells you that list managers know exactly where the cap is going to go soon and they know the kind of impact two new teams coming in is going to have.

Totally anecdotal but I’ve since seen a fair few haters say that they’re really against the cap spiking & talent pool diluting because they don’t want the Dylan Brown deal to “retroactively look smart”, almost like they’re in denial about the whole point of the deal being that it’ll go from an overpay to an underpay over its lifetime.

i think its admirable of him to not want to leave the year he started. Hes putting the team first and giving back to the eels

I’m not sure what the Herald thought they would achieve running a poll like that.

Of course the majority are going to say no. It’s been called nothing but negative by the mainstream media. Whilst some analysts have looked at it objectively and have also realised the potential upsides (talented half with a lot of upside, more teams soon than talent, locked into a long-term contract that will make him cheap in the long run if it works out) these opinions aren’t as easy to find as the mainstream media who only ever discuss the negatives as that’s what gets clicks.

Knowing that I’m not sure what the Herald were trying to achieve other than trying to make Brown feel even more unwelcome before he arrives.

Got to say I thought the same . Really don't see the benefit of the local newspaper going there . But that's the media we aren't going to change it
 
I’m not sure if this has been asked before.
If the halves combination is going to be 6. Sharpe 7. Brown, why can’t we swap them?
Brown is a $1.3m experienced 6 that will be playing out of position.
Sharpe is a $300k? experienced 1 playing out of position.
Why have 2 players out of position when you can just have 1?

You would think that a newspaper in a one team town would get behind the local team. When the local team does well, it would help the papers’ sales and it would certainly help them to get inside information from the team.
 
It won't matter what number they wear.
Brown will play in his usual spot on the left and Sharpe has been playing on the right since we signed Brown.
Put numbers 32 and 34 on them and they'll still play left and right halves.
Crossland at 13 is also playing like a roving 5/8, so make him 35.
 
Said from the get go that from beyond 2027 browns deal is going to be market value at worst with the new broadcast deal, by then he will be a 26-27 year old international rep secured here longterm while other clubs are fighting an even more diluted halves market with alot more money to throw around.

We wouldnt have the cap space for him either i wouldnt have thought.
 
I supported the Knights when one of our biggest signings was Adrian Shelford, who played all of 5 games. I supported the Knights when they let the great Ben Kennedy go to sign Kirk Reynoldsen. I supported the Knights when they went all in on Trent Hodgkison despite him having stem cell treatments on his knee and other clubs passing accordingly. I supported the Knights when they re-signed Kade Snowden, who said he was pleased to re-sign despite "two clapped-out knees". I supported the club when they signed Milf and when they were mad enough to try to re-sign him despite his dire performances.

IDK what the point of supporting a team is if you're not willing to suffer through the bad to get to the good.

After going through bad times or in the Knights case, lots and lots of bad times, it makes you appreciate the good times all the more!

One day we will win our third premiership, it will be another perfect day!

It’s kind of amazing how shocking he’s been. I regret even my soft pedalled endorsement of his “improvement” as a player last year.

And I think I’ve said something along the lines of, I think he can be for the Tigers what Pearce was for us, yes he’ll do some stuff that annoys you with the ball in hand, but he’ll bring a competitiveness and commitment that club needs and lift standards.

Well, Luai has been playing behind way better forwards than Pearce got to for us in his first season.

Verdict: I owe Mitchell Pearce a massive apology.
