We’re in a much better spot next year overall anyway. This year we were two injuries away from picking guys who aren’t even necessarily props as the starters at 8 & 10. There’s some actual playable depth now.

The problem of course is the huge question mark over who starts besides Jacob.

But plenty of guys pick up fringe players and then those fringe players demand a starting spot. Happens all the time. Basically what happened with Leo. The opportunity is there for Crouch, Saulo, McEwen, ESL, Hola, etc.

Yeah middles is one position where fringe players can suddenly increase their value very quickly. Extremely likely at least one of them will follow Leo’s progression.

Reckon we're still going to need to sign another forward who is a starter before next season.

I'm still expecting Starting forward signing, back up edge forward signing and a hooker signing.

Next year depth wise from that is immediately better considering we're guaranteed and injury crisis again.

He has come miles from this time last year and still seems to be better just about every game.
I could see him taking Leo's spot next year - maybe from round one if he has a great pre-season.

Was playing poker, so didn't get to really watch the Phins game (despite being completely card dead), but just looked it up. Hola only got 14 minutes, 3 runs for 32 meters, 11 post contact, 8 tackles, 1 miss (when I presume the Cowboys were playing catch-up football).

He's pretty miffed with this club. He ain't coming back. If he fails at the Dogs, he'll go to somewhere like Roosters/Storm IMO.

It has taken time but I totally agree with this, he is an extremely exciting prospect!

Yeah I don’t see him ever coming back, if what the reports suggested are true than he would hate us or at the least be pretty angry.

Like others suggested if he fails at the Dogs he could easily see himself at the Storm or Roosters.

It has taken time but I totally agree with this, he is an extremely exciting prospect!

Moses Leota and Spencer Leniu are both a bit shorter than McEwen and only 1 and 4 kg heavier, and McEwen gives me similar vibes - attitude wise.
McEwen spent last off season training for second row. I think he'd put on several kgs if he trained for the middle, making him the same size as some of the best props - but he also has some passing skills and vision about him.
If ESL could do a Zac Hosking and pack on 10kg in an off season, he could be in the same boat.
