if they get a good start to the yr and jag a win or two in the first 3-4 rounds it mite give them enough confidence to win 6+ games next yr.

the club is due for some luck, just be a shame to have that luck go towards not getting the spoon instead of winning a comp

Who are the teams that will go backwards? Dragons, probably. Manly, maybe. The other cellar dwellers like Roosters and Souths won't have another bad year.

To finish 12th you generally need 9 or 10 wins. That's not going to happen.

I think Souths are looking pretty crook to be honest with you, Souths thanks to Sam Burgess lost a lot of depth and their spine isn't exactly great. No good options at 1, Walker and Reynolds are good in the halves and no recognised 9. Loosing Walker, Teo, Luke has really stung them hard.

Also Inglis is getting old and clearly doesn't give a rats outside of origin.

There were many reasons we went bad this year - and most of them won't be repeated next year.

This year we sacked senior players like Snowy, Uate, Tariq and even Tapine etc - and each time it ripped the heart out of the side - we won't do that next year.
This year we shuffled players all over the field to see what position they played in best - Gagai to fullback, Sione to second row, etc etc etc - we won't do that next year.
This year we used 11 rookies, some as young as 18 years old, just to see how they went - we won't do that next year.
This year we sent any player with a hint of injury off to get early treatment - we won't do that next year.
This year we were only able to use about 80% of our salary cap because we were paying for guys like Snowy, Roberts etc. - we won't do that next year.

Brown will spend the off season putting together a good, cohesive young side and he will be trying to compete every game, which will be very different to this year, where he basically sacked guys every 10 minutes, trialled guys in different roles, gave guys games just to see how they'd go, and basically ran with three quarters of a squad.

We won't win the title in 2017, but we'll start the year 20 or 30 percent better than we finished this year and we should improve every game as the young guys become a team.
Brown wasn't even trying to win games this year. As someone put it the other day, we had 26 trial games where we trialled young players and different combinations all over the field. That was 2016. It's over now. Different year, different plan.

Bulldogs will fall behind next season, as well as Cowboys and dragons. But no team is as poor off as we are, not by a long shot

They had 80,000 marching in the street when they didn't have a team.
As usual, you cherry pick some wildly pessimistic mini fact and try to rewrite history.

They also had a lot of non souths fans march for them. As usual you like to look over facts that don't support your argument.

Ditto. Was living in Newie at the time and what a great atmosphere. Good as when the maggots dropped the Super League franchise and Ferris moved on.

I personally wouldn't mind chasing any of these players:

Ben Matulino (potentially released?)
Sam Tagataese
Ben Hannant
Elijah Taylor (highly unlikely now that Tigers have the money)
Suaia Matagi (Gould confirmed their cap is full)
Sam Moa
Kane Evans
Zane Musgrove

Or if we're saving for 2017:

Aiden Tolman
Valentine Holmes
Zeb Taia (would love him back)
Nelson Asofa-Solomona
Jack de Belin
Tyrone Peachey

I'm dreaming I know...

Well Ryan....if you ever post anything that vaguely resembles intelligence....I'd possibly like that also.xx

Haha, must have been on this forum too long if I'm talking rubbish then, there seems to be minimal actual rugby league knowledge (yet heaps of experts) on here these days...

If Brown was a greyhound he'd get a suspension for failing to chase.

Not much there Matty in the first list, and for sure Tolman and Holmes from the second. How can he chase when the owner does not let him have enough money to enter the race Lord?

wouldn't mind seeing big Shannon Wakeman here is quick and has good footwork for a guy his size. Don't know how he hasn't got a game for the Dragons yet. Was named in NSW Cup Team of the Year this year.

Played a few games for them a few years ago , his actually not contracted to the dragons only the cutters so that might explain it. They have a good young half named black wallace he never seems to get much of a crack
