There were many reasons we went bad this year - and most of them won't be repeated next year.
This year we sacked senior players like Snowy, Uate, Tariq and even Tapine etc - and each time it ripped the heart out of the side - we won't do that next year.
This year we shuffled players all over the field to see what position they played in best - Gagai to fullback, Sione to second row, etc etc etc - we won't do that next year.
This year we used 11 rookies, some as young as 18 years old, just to see how they went - we won't do that next year.
This year we sent any player with a hint of injury off to get early treatment - we won't do that next year.
This year we were only able to use about 80% of our salary cap because we were paying for guys like Snowy, Roberts etc. - we won't do that next year.
Brown will spend the off season putting together a good, cohesive young side and he will be trying to compete every game, which will be very different to this year, where he basically sacked guys every 10 minutes, trialled guys in different roles, gave guys games just to see how they'd go, and basically ran with three quarters of a squad.
We won't win the title in 2017, but we'll start the year 20 or 30 percent better than we finished this year and we should improve every game as the young guys become a team.
Brown wasn't even trying to win games this year. As someone put it the other day, we had 26 trial games where we trialled young players and different combinations all over the field. That was 2016. It's over now. Different year, different plan.
