Peter O'Sullivan Appreciation thread

I'd rather have Howe than Fulton as the next recruitment manager out of those two.

Titans have been a mess for a long time before Howe was there and Manly fans couldn't wait to see the back of Scott Fulton and was disastrous at the Tigers in his 5 minutes there.

Genuine question

Does POS pick through the juniors or raid the previous clubs top 30 squads that he’s been at

I know when he came here he brought Seve, Graham and Sullivan from the Dolphins. Graham and Sullivan were not wanted/needed at the Dolphins. I can’t remember if there was any others

Did he take players from the Warriors to the Dolphins?

Sullivan came from the Cowboys.

We seemed to have re-signed 5 juniors in the space of the last week since Sully left. All 15-17 yo.

Smart and proactive from the club. Really like it. These kids would be some of the low hanging fruit Sully would come for sooner than later
As soon as POS leaves it seems hasty and questionable decisions about players without properly researching the background or considering the bigger picture. Why the focus on signing such young players? Surely, the priority should be signing players who have proven their worth, are at the right age for the club’s needs, and can make an immediate impact, rather than rushing into decisions based on limited viewing and assessment. Give the young ones something to work towards. Recruitment should be about quality, suitability and making informed decisions, not simply signing players for the sake of it. It does not apply to all but a lot I have seen lately. Signing unworthy kids forces kids out of the squads who should be in there.

I’d wager a bet that they were locked up quick smart before POS could go picking our best Jrs for the broncos.

They are our Jrs. It’s smart to lock up your best and brightest to keep getting looks at them in our system before they start getting to the senior grades and everyone starts looking. I’m not sure how it can be seen as too hasty.

How do you define unworthy selections? Unless your in recruiting and work for the club, it’s a big call to say they are unworthy. The club clearly likes what they see.

Id highly doubt POS would be after the few that have been signed. But thats just an opinion. Time will tell when teams are picked who is worthy. Interested to see how the jnr pathways teams go after a quite successful year!

POS clearly has a long memory and keeps an eye on dozens or even hundreds of kids from all over.
He'll have added some Knights juniors to his list, but he talks about following Manu and Dylan Brown from when they were kids in NZ and Taj Annan from when he was playing school Rugby.
In short - he has 100s of names from everywhere the game is played, and he'll make a bid for a few of ours, but only if we miss any really good ones I think.
