Pacific Championships 2025

Ennis talking about how Brown is playing great alongside a “genuine” 7 and stressing it makes me feel like he is throwing shade but Foran also isn’t a “genuine” 7 the man is a five-eighth that has transitioned into a seven.

Seems like Ennis has about 2 brain cells.

I’m not saying anything about Brown and his position but just seems stupid for Ennis to say as it seems like he hasn’t done homework at all or are we forgetting the 10+ years Foran has played five-eighth?

I am really happy to not be watching and listening to Ennis. He is a typical “little man” who feels he has to continually be speaking to get noticed. He was an average NRL player, but a bloody awful, bigoted and one-eyed empty vessel as a commentator.
At least on Nine you only have to put up with old Gus who obviously doesn’t know the rules and provides comic relief from the good old days.

Ennis must have forgotten Brown has played with a top 3 halfback in the NRL weekly for the last 7 seasons.

I think he’s generally correct though that Dylan benefits from playing with a guy who’ll do a lot of the steering the side around, tactical/field position kicking, etc.

He’s the focal point of that team atm but they definitely want him freed up to run and play what he sees.

Just seen what happened to Eli Katoa on the sidelines. They showed his warm up collision before the game and honestly there’s no way he should have played after that, he was out cold. Needs to be some pretty big questions asked of the doctors who made that call.

I missed the actual contact in warmup, I just walked past the TV and saw replay of him lying and getting assessed.

We can’t have that.

For all the seemingly innocuous HIA assessments that confuse us, somehow obvious stuff like this still gets through.

If they can broadcast replays of the incident pre game - surely somebody can step in and raise an issue with this footage?

Do players feel empowered to speak up? I’d like to see NRL put out a completely anonymous survey of players and their attitudes towards concussion and perhaps another in a few years etc to see the trends. I know it’s tricky as concussions affect everyone differently, and perhaps he genuinely didn’t feel concussed. This is not directed at Katoa, but it seems some players take it more seriously than others.

There’s gonna be a bit of fallout from this I imagine.

I don’t know if Katoa was even on the same planet after that knock, he seemed out of it all game and then once he finally got off the field he was on the bench in tears which I think is a sign of a pretty serious concussion.

He’s just posted a pic on his instagram of him on a drip in hospital … so hopefully he’s on the mend, but it seems pretty damn serious.

Yeah I mean the doctor letting him play on is disgusting and should be questioned, he should never have given the green light to play.

I remember when I was sparring once and copped a stray head kick, I was rocked and felt like crap even after it, bad headache, dizzy and even puked. Went to the hospital and the doctor said it was a mild concussion and to stop anything involving the head for two weeks just to be safe.

I think of that and I just think, if that was what a mild concussion felt like than I wouldn’t want to feel what a heavy one felt like.

I feel bad for Katoa, hope he is doing well

It is hard because some handle concussions differently but come on people could tell Katoa wasn’t fully there after the first.

I do agree this one needs to be looked into some more and that he shouldn't have played but if the medical staff did as they were required and that he passed his tests and wasn't showing signs of concussion then he had every right to play if he was feeling good enough and was cleared.

I told you guys about my concussion earlier this year (scarily my 13th when I did a count back).

Over 2 weeks later I'd did 15mins with a reciprocating saw. I got nauseous, went to lay down and slept for 3 hours. And I normally nap for 15min max.

Yep everyone responds differently

According to Woolf in the press conference he didn’t even get an HIA for the warm up incident. If it had been properly assessed then I’d say it’s a very obvious category one.

Pretty clear they avoided doing that assessment because they wanted him to play, and they could get away with it because it was pre-match.

Woolf is not immune from this he should have pulled him from playing. While I’m not a neurologist I do have a medical degree and it was as plain as day he took a heavy hit and it would have been a cat one based on how he reacted.

Gross negligence. Heads should roll.

Woolf wouldn’t have seen the tackle, it’s up to the medical staff to make that decision
