Recruitment has been a basket case for a long time. The turnover of people in that role, all with different plans and priorities has played a huge role. Crazy that it’s taken years to seriously sort a replacement for Pearce - literally the most important position in the side.

To be fair, we thought we had that replacement in Hastings and for a while we did. Its such a shame his body (and to a certain extent his mind) stopped him from being our #7 for the whole of his contract.

I dont agree that there is something fundamentally broken with the club, if that were true, we wouldnt have organically spawned 2 premierships within 13 years of the clubs founding.

The first hypothesis was that we couldn't defend, something fundamentally wrong with our attitude, between the early 2000s and 2020, then AOB proves that we can defend.

Everyone knows we can attack, that's never been an issue.

I think once Bennett failed to deliver a comp inside of 2-3 seasons, with Roberts at halfback and the likes of Rochow, an ESL retired Willie Mason and a chorus of over the hill and broken stars, in the starting pack, we started believing our own bs that theres something fundamentally broken, because for first time, we couldn't say we were resource poor.

There's nothing stopping us from winning other than our ability to build a good roster under the right coach and sustain a healthy culture for long enough to strike gold with injuries and form. That's all. The rest of it we've got.

I've got some pretty exciting news to bring to the forum. There has been a redesign of the logo for 2026. It's set to be unveiled at the awards night. I was speaking with a well known staffer earlier today for about half an hour.

Apparently the change in the logo looking left to then right, backwards to forwards wasn't a big enough change and wasn't very popular. Anyway he gave me a look at the new logo. There has been a bit of thinking going on and with the change in coach, and the change in CEO, so many changes it was thought now was the best time to make this move.

The new logo better represents the club.

Anyway, I snuck a quick pick of the new logo whilst the staffer was collecting their coffee.

After yet another spoon I was pondering if the Knights have been the most consistently mediocre side over the last 10 or 15 years.

Really, if it wasnt for the time the Johns boys were here our entire history is mediocre.. for such a rugby leauge mad area where we have so many kids playing and strong local comps its been pretty disappointing.

That’s why I’ve kind of labelled us as the Charlotte Hornets of the NRL due to our poor front office and terrible decisions since Joey retired (Albeit we won two premierships and the Hornets have won none NBA Championships).
