The young guys will make huge improvements in the off season, because that's what young guys do.
Mataora, Paea, Bird and our halves have either peaked or are on the downhill slide.
I don't know why people have trouble seeing that. It happens every year.
Last year the Saifiti brothers must have improved 30 or 40% in the off season, as did Lamb, and the year before that Levi went from a 40 or 50 minute NYC player to a guy who could play 80 minutes in reserve grade and 60 in firstgrade.
This isn't rocket science - you put 20 year olds into 60 hour a week training and they make huge strides.
I think Mataora has a fair bit of development in him and will be get better over the next couple of years. He's just starting to find his feet.
