Offical: Manly Sign Uate for 2 years

Anyone else read in todays Telegrah that we're in very early negotiations with manly about a player swap involving Uate and an unnamed ex representative player. I'm guessing possibly Buhrer considering Brown tried to get him earlier this year.

Have you got a link you could throw up? I'm just trying to find the article on line.

Just the thought that Buhrer played a game for NSW still makes me chuckle. He's been okay for Manly this year, and is being talked as a possible captain for them next year alongside Jake Trbojevic so don't see him as an option for us. Wouldn't hurt if we didn't get him anyway as he is solid at best.

wouldnt mind Buhrer at all tbh!

Lawrence is the player i have heard tho! And Penn said yesterday on Radio he wont pay more then 100k for Uate, So id say no thanks to that!

From the RLW

AKUILA UATE to Manly is just about a done deal for next season.

The Knights’ cult hero is no longer a favourite son in the eyes of club officials at Newcastle after the club’s year from hell – so much so that the Knights will pay around half of Uate’s $500,000 salary next season just to see the back of him.

Uate, the Knights greatest-ever try-scorer, was twice offered the chance to switch codes and move to rugby, with offers arriving from Japan and France.

The former Test star has also attracted interest from Super League clubs, but is said to be reluctant in moving his family overseas.

Well who is right. Penn is probably just talking it up, negotiation by media. Kind of like our ex board member saying Wests won't be paying 10 million for the Knights.

I'm guessing half would be fair. 250k would bring another player here most likely, and it's only for 1 year that we would be paying him. He has been great for the club in the past, a shame he couldn't continue his form, but at this point we can't afford to have a 500k reserve grader who does not appear to have any interest in improving his form and returning to 1st grade.

Geez Uate and Taufua on the wings. The very definition or rocks or diamonds as a wing pairing. Just as likely as 10 errors between them as scoring 5 tries between them on a game.

Just read Barry Toohey's article today that a possible trade between Akuila to the Sea Eagles and Jamie Buher to the Knights is looking more and more likely with Buher visiting Newcastle during the week to meet with club officials and is understood to have been impressed with his leadership qualities.

We were impressed with Tariq and Randell's leadership qualities as well. Nek minit.

Not sure how this fixes our go forward or outside backs, need some big men and classy backs.

We also lack depth in 2rf! Buhrer would be a great signing imo, Would go straight into our starting 13.

I'd rather get bird Vaughan and lolohea before buhrer , but if the price is right and we miss any of that lot I'd take him

buhrer is a great defender and also carries the ball strongly.

will make 40tks and close to 100m a game, nothing amazing but for uder 300k u wont find much better if any better.

Korbim to lock as the current trend is a front rower to lock to be used in the middle. Such as Klemmer, Tuamavalo, Parker, Eastwood etc. Burhrer is too little and be better out wider.
