Off contract options

Yep true. Either way we have a heap of cap space left for next year still with Mullens 400k. Hodkos money, 1mil + from this yr if we front pay contracts not to mention Lillyman and Heignington likely retire. Hopefully use that $$ to strengthen our forward pack!

Don't understand how the sal cap works, if it does, but are we still in danger of being fined for not spending our quota and how can it be fixed. Understand buy players but that OK if they are available this year. Rediculous that you can be fined for being under when it should only be for overspend.

The nrl provide the funds and set the minimum and maximum allowance.
They expect clubs to use every cent as the more money on each roster should equate to a better sale product to the public.

Every heard of the saying ( you have to spend money to make money )
Thats pretty much the simple way to look at it.

And look, I’d rather be in the situation we are in now rather then the bulldogs who have to spread 800k across 12 players or under the atrocious cap situation Bennett left us in.

He was sacked in May last year. Why would you think any payments made to him up to that point would count in this years cap?

Im sure thats what toohey said

No, he said we were paying Mullen up until all his avenues of appeal were exhausted. Which they were in May last year.

I know we payed 400k of this years contract early tho

1) IF we paid his 2018 salary in 2017 (which I don't believe we did), it would be under the 2017 cap, and not affecting this years cap at all.
2) More importantly, we didn't pay him anything after he was sacked so point 1 is irrelevant .

As for Uate, his Knights contract ended in 2017. Why would we still be paying him? Brown seems like a good bloke but I don't think he's giving money away for no reason.

So I'm done here, if you want to believe illogical arguments without any basis in fact, good luck to you.

No we payed his 2018 contract under this yrs salary. Contracts start november im pretty sure and not January. Could be wrong there tho.

You can be done here, leave the actual facts to those that know them

If they have been paid, properly and legally, doesn't really matter if 2017 or 18 it's done and we are way under cap apparently so no matter who is right or wrong it's irrelevant.

We released Aku from the final year of his deal (2017) and chipped in $200k-$300k of his new salary at Manly last season in return for Manly releasing Buhrer from the final year of his deal (2017). Aku's not on our books anymore.

We're paying Hodkinson a bit, don't know exact figures. We'd pre-paid over half of his salary for 2018 late last season though, so I'd guess we're paying him $200k this season at most.

I don't even understand where the Mullen talk is coming from. He breached his contract and was sacked, therefore the contract is terminated. As slotmachine said, we continued to pay him after he originally tested positive until the ban was officially put in place, which happened in May last year. No payments have happened since then.

We have, no idea what Josh is talking about. Not paying Aku either. Only Hodko.

Yeah I can’t think of anyone else other then Hodko for this year. So Bennett’s five year plan to clean up his mess after he left was a year ahead of schedule even taking into account the first year 2015.
And Brownie/Mooney got it into 2019 with a clean slate. So not a bad effort at all.
