Off contract options

A father coaching his son sounds like a very bad idea to me.
How does he drop his son for poor form?
How does he negotiate a contract deal?
Even worse, how does he convince the other players that he isn't playing favourites?

I think Ivan will put the team first, having to drop Nathan for poor form would be the kick in the pants he needs to get back form.
In saying that and baring disaster Nathan could be one of the top couple of halves for the next decade.

The sour note to this deal is if they do it at Penrith while Gus is still there and Ivan breaks contract at the Tigers. He'll lose a lot of hard-earned respect walking out on the Tigers to go back to that toxic environment.

Longer-term possibilities are a package deal at either the Roosters or Broncos which I would hate to see.

Wonder if they could be tempted to join up in Newcastle in a few seasons...

Ben Barba is expected to be released from his ESL contract and expected to return to the NRL Highly unlikely we would enquire I imagine but he has turned it around a bit since his failed broncos stint

Wouldn’t be the worst idea. He’s a very talented player. One of the big reasons Sharks won the grand final a couple years back.

1. Barba
6. Ponga
7. Pearce
9. Watson

I can dig that spine.

Bashed his missus and pinged for drugs twice. Easter Bunny is a better chance of playing fb next year

Good thing players aren't judged for that otherwise Greg Inglis, Wes Naquiama, Greg Bird and Zane Tetevano wouldn't have a career in the NRL

Barba would be a good signing but it would be completely hypocritical after the club sacked Phythian for the same thing. Can't see Gardner letting it happen

So let me get this straight, our priority for next season if a “big hitting “ half , who can find “ the line” - No. Thanks buying nothing but trouble.

If we were to stoop that low why not go for Lodge he is what we need - or do we ?

Why not lol, not many nrl standard props on market and Lodge fits what we need, off contract plus no Bennett anymore helps. Ideally we go hard for TPJ though.

With all the booing he copped I highly doubt it, plus the club has gone quiet on it after Brown said he would initially consider him. I think I heard he agreed to a two year extension anyway so it may not matter.

And whilst Barba seems unlikely he'd be better then the worse suggestions of Foran and Norman. Who put together would be not even half as useful as Barba.

We did go after Lodge. Massively

I don't know if it was massively but we had a crack.

500k offer if you believe the media reports. Turned it down because he wanted to repay the Broncos for helping him out in a rough time, though hard to believe anyone would turn down half a million, especially in his situation.
