(NSW Cup) Centurions Discussion 2010 Thread

The Centurions are becoming laughable, what's going on with this team. I would like them to show a Centurions game just so we can see how they're going and where they're going wrong. It's always Norths as the game of the week on Fox.

Did you care to have a look at who played for bankstown at all.The whole team as played first grade before. Id say it wasnt a bad effort buy the boys to lose buy only 10 points.

Didn't make a difference though when Balmain played Norths. Balmain were fielding quite a few players from FG yet Norths beat them. We have to stop making excuses for our team hence the reason why I would've liked to see our team and where they were going wrong.

The Centurions are becoming a bit of a joke TBH. Blokes like Kevin Naquima and Sione Tovo should be playing first grade instead of being hidden away in NSW cup every week.

It was a great game.
Our two firstgraders V their 10, and we nearly got a win v the second placed side.

Cooper Vuna played about 50 minutes, mostly in the second row, but he started at centre.

Ndaira played halfback till about the 65 minute mark when Tyler Sullivan came on and Ndaira moved to hooker.

Eddy Edwards seemed to get knocked out cold for a second or so in a head clash, but he jumped up and staggered back into the line, and the ref and the trainer couldn't get him to go off till he had made another hit up, despite him being in disneyland. When he came back on he barged over 3 or 4 of them to score a try and tackled everyone who moved. Maybe his best game, but he won't remember.
Api Pewhairangi played 5/8 very well. Pretty good for an 18 year old, but the defence of Api Pewhairangi, Simon Williams and Jarrod Tua down the right side cost us the game. Simon just couldn't cover for the other 2, who are both good Kiwi kids, but have a lot to learn.

Lucas Miller started at prop and played about 70 minutes. He is a bloody good young player who started the season with little pre season and obvious leg injuries, but he is improving every week and shows no sign of injury now.

Apart from one side of the field, we were the better side,, and that with 9 players of NYC age, a couple of 21 year olds, a couple of 22 year olds, and George, Cooper and Jimmy (all 22 or 23 as well I think).

Lost 42-32 to the dogs.
We were down 18-12 at halftime, but clawed back to 24 all. The dogs got a bit serious and ran up a lead, but we never gave up and scored the last two tries.

Fairweather - very good gamewith some real mongrel in his hitups. He is ready for NYC again.
Tua - some really hard hit ups, but still has L plates on - poor defence.
Williams - his worst game in a while with poor defence down his side of the field, but for the second game in a row that i've watched he has drawn the defence and delivered a 'Matt Gidley' pass to put Tua in untouched. A centre with power, speed, try scoring ability, and sublime passing skills - if only his defence was a bit better.
Vuna - decent hit out, mostly in the second row.
Fawcett - very classy player
Api Pewhairangi - scored a decent try and did some good ball distribution work - the 18 year old is improving.
Ndaira - very quiet when at half, sparked up later at hooker
Edwards - great game - i think he was knocked out for a second in a head clash - went down like he was out cold, but jumped to his feet and staggered back into the line. The ref wanted to stop play, but by the time he ran over Eddy was back in the line - not sure if he knew what ground he was at though. The trainer ran on and told Eddy to come off, but he refused till he had done another hit up, just to prove he wasn't hurt. When Eddy came back on he scored a barge over try against a bunch of guys who have played firstgrade and tackled himself to a standstill. A tough, tough display, but not sure he will remember it.
Wyborn - improving every week. He is a very versatile footballer.
Miller - played about 70 minutes, mostly at prop. He is over his injuries and improving rapidly. He is a smart footballer who raely does the wrong thing.
Vlaicky - worked hard, but made few inroads this week.
Marvin Filipo was very strong in the forwards, but he is a dumb footballer. Butchered a couple of tries.

In the preview on NSWRL.com they say 10 of the dogs have played firstgrade and have 230 games or so between them, while we had 1 firstgrader, Ndaira, with 29 games (Vuna made 2).
They caught us out down the Api Pewhairangi, Williams, Tua side of the field 3 or 4 times, but apart from that, our very young and inexperienced side were actually the better side.

They're a very young side. It's hard to have any sort of expectation on them. Most are still allowed to play 20s or just out of SG Ball or NYC.

So maybe Stone has had a change of heart realising not playing these guys in reserve grade makes them look sh*t when they do play NRL.

Hopefully these guys can hit some form for the Centurions. The Knights and the Centurions are both fielding their best possible teams this year.

At last that numbskull has come to his senses!!! I didn't notice anyone saying it on the forum, and meant to myself (I think I said it to you in a text during the game AK) that it wouldn't have helped Dureau on the weekend that it was his first game in weeks. Thanks to Stone's craszy ideas.

Agreed, it's about time he started utilising the Centurions. If we do have any injuries the players that have been dropped to the Centurions would be better off for the run. I'm starting to like Stoney's change in tactics, he's finally got the same backrow as last year and now dropping players.
He's learning the hard way but at least he's learning.

Crest is Bulldogs home ground for like NSW Cup, SG Ball & Harold Matts.

NSW Cup isn't played at NRL venues anymore. The reasoning I'm not sure.

Windsor (Penrith's feeder club) play out in Windsor Sports Ground
Wentworthville (Parramatta's) play at Wenty's home ground
Balmain play at Leichardt which is an NRL ground, but isn't a 'fulltime' used ground.
Newtown - Henson Park.

etc etc

You can add to that.

Central Coast(Newcastle) Play at morrie bren oval.

6. Api Pewhairangi
Whose this guy, just a quick rundown
we seem to have different halves every week in centurions

Very happy to see some FGers droped down here George Ndaira is someone i think it will do wonders for. The chances he gets in FG he looks rusty i really think he has potential and hopefully he can develop at this grade.

NSW got the Shellharbour dragons this week, if it werent for an exam on at the same time, i'd definately ventured down and had a look, only 2 minutes away.

With Mcdonnell, Dureau, Ciraldo and Lulia in the Centurions, it will be easily the strongest team they have named this season. I think they can beat Shellharbour on the weekend.
