NSW Cup 2025

Barely noticed Bryan to be fair. Tyrone had a few strong carries. The game changed when Sullivan and Hopwood came on though, the mobility and leg speed through the middle was noticeable.

Manuleleua 1 try, 1 try assist (bombed another one), 15 runs for 180m, 8 tackle breaks, 3 offloads, only 12 tackles at 80% but wasn't a problem.

I know Manulelua had a whale of a game on the edge there but he absolutely looks like a prop in the NRL to me. Some might say that's a waste of his pace, but guys like Payne Haas, Spencer Leniu, Moses Leota, Joe Tapine and Jason Taumalolo in his prime have/had more toe than half the edges in the comp at top speed. He looks like he's more of a top speed/running start merchant like those guys - contrast him with Dylan Lucas and by the looks of it McEwen where it's more about acceleration. I reckon we need to be grooming someone to be that explosive running middle who gets us on the front foot more consistently and he absolutely looks like he can fill that role to me. 110kg wrecking ball who starts out as a 20-30 impact player and hopefully progresses to something more than that - yes please.

Actually in the signing announcement Sully talked him up as a 6 foot 1 105kg super athlete and then when he weighed in for his NRL profile he was already at 110kg. 5kg of muscle over one pre-season suggests they're bulking him up & yeah that suggests middle is his future role.

His try won't look like the effort of a future prop in the highlights - long range try down the wing.

Manulelua looked like a young Kikau yesterday. I'd like to be keeping him out a bit wider myself.

Highlights - The McCarthy try was the best - I'd forgotten how good it was.

Sutton had a shocker.
Dobson must be thinking about replacing him with one of the Hoad brothers.

Mate he wasn't by himself Wil Sullivan looked way out of his depth. Is he a middle? Was Sua tapped on the shoulder for this guy?
POS was quoted as saying 'big strong carry and aggressive defender' when Sullivan was signed. I didn't see much of that... POS's signings are all through the grades now so not as easy to blame previous recruitment people.

Yeah I’m losing hope with Sutton nowadays, started with potential but just way to inconsistent to be a first grader and it speaks volumes now he is about 22? and still not even getting into the extended bench despite no Cogger, Gamble and that Crossland is moved to 7.

Was he even selected out of the what 30? During the trials? Was he even selected last year in the trials?

I had big hopes for Sutton it’s a bit of a let down, I guess he is still young but surely he hits his straps within the next two years.

Well the obvious choice if not injured was surely Jye Linnane kurri kurri born and raised. The warriors will get the benefit of Jye Linnane's talent. Hearing he has just inked a 3 year deal. POS mustn't like Kurri kids much, the rumour in the Valley is that Chayse Butler has only received a 1 year deal... Crazy if the kid carries his team to the GF & wins Matthew's player of the Year....

Damn was hoping we'd keep Linnane and Butler if even young should be signed to a development deal as soon as he's 18.

Well isn’t Jye coming off two acls in both legs now, for a guy that is a ball runner that is hard to come back from (not impossible and would have preferred to at least give him the chance) but I do agree with Butler man should be getting a 3 year deal, very promising, would be crushed if we lose him.

Manulelua left the field in the first half with an upper leg injury after a barnstorming run unfortunately. Down 18-6 to start the second half.
