NRL Round 4- Bulldogs Vs Knights - 3:00pm Saturday, 28th March - Accor Stadium

Poor Pheonix, always getting bullied by the reffs 😞
I do agree we need to just go back to last year for the most part, and 100% if they give it away on first tackle its a penalty but i dont think its that good in the attacking 20, teams would just give away a penalty to slow it down there.

Thats where the professional 6 again sin bin comes in, and loss of two points if they take the conversion. Pretty good deterrent.

Omg Mason can’t have seriously just discovered that Penrith (all teams do it) give away a 6 again if they lose the ruck on first tackle? What’s he been watching the last few years?

It’s the whole reason it was wound back because Penrith figured it out 21. Apparently PVL forgot this and why they brought back the penalty instead.

They’d finally managed to find a decent balance last year and had what wa probably the best season in years, only to immediately ruin it by bringing back more of the 6 Again nonsense. As if it ever got rid of the wrestle anyway. All teams practice wrestling, they never stopped

He's figured it out!!! 🤣🤣🤣 (like six years after everyone else).

We had the blown out scores and one sided contests when they first bought the 6 again rule in 2021. They then changed it to the 40 metre line which was working fine. I had no problem with it.

Now they’ve gone back which makes zero sense. Having blokes like PVL and Abdo who know nothing about the game is costing it currently. The only reason I can think why they’ve changed is it makes it a lot easier for the officials to manipulate results. Have they given an actual reason for why they changed it again?
Very hard to argue with this point atm.

Thi
I like the 6 again rule, it is better than the game griding to a halt for every penalty. It used to be so stop start it was ridiculous.

But, there are tweaks it needs, what I would change.

1) Go back to 6 agains only outside the 40m line.
2) Stop handing them out willy nilly and I'd like to see the ref having some discussions with players and captains on the run. If slow in the ruck, or whatever give the captain that warning that if it continues 6 agains will start for it, get your team in line. Then if 6 agains start for it, at the next stoppage go speak with the captain and say I gave you a warning there and now we have seen some 6 agains for it, if that continues I may bin someone.
3) 6 agains should not be given for what the ref considers a professional 6 again. Deliberately holding down to get the line set etc on the 1st tackle should be penalised to make the penalty against that harsher.
4) Ref must call out 6 again and the reason. 6 again ruck, 6 again crowding, 6 again Pheonix etc.
5) I think refs have lost touch with when a player deserves the right to a quick play the ball vs when the tackler was dominant and deserves to hold down a little longer. Thats a feel for the game thing. and I see a lot of 6 agains given where the tackler isn't even trying to get up at all, or the tackler isn't really even on them anymore. Frivolous 6 agains need to cease and have them only for actual, clear infringements.

I believe 6 agains are an issue because they aren't an official penalty, and many of them only result in an extra tackle of two so are given way too freely. Much like Origin is Reffed, let the game flow, let teams get in to the arm wrestle with sets and earn the field position. Don't gift it to them with 6 agains.

I'd rather watch a game that is a contest between the two teams for ascendancy, vs ref chucking field position to teams for minor ruck issues.
s makes a lot of sense.

He's brags about Toronto West every few episodes on Levels.
Might have moved around a bit, but family all lived in Wangi as teenagers, and Willie probably did some juniors at Macquarie in Toronto West, but he also played for Valentine when they were basically a Knights feeder club. Big brother Les played for Wangi Warriors and Dora Creek from memory.

Flarpe 6, Flunt 1, Friz 10, Hopwood 16, Francis 17, Gamble 18. Can’t say Justin is reluctant to give young blokes a crack.

I like Flunt but he isn't a better 1 than Gamble is a 6.

And Sharpe isnt a better 6 than he is a 1.

So the team as it appears on the team sheet isn't the strongest team we can field imo

Seems like Sharpe is still in a fair bit of doubt so the worrying might be for nothing.

Hopefully they find a better use for a bench spot than whatever Cant was meant to be doing on the weekend. Just because Crossland CAN play 80 doesn’t mean he should.

Sharpe won’t be at 1 as he would be running 10x what he would at 6 coming back from injury , But he probably won’t play anyway as is still only 50/50 at moment

I would swap Cant and Graham in the position listing also

Think Grahams speed and ball playing as 9 allowing Phoenix to ball play at 13 would be more beneficial and then leave Francis,Hopwood and Saulo as bench as will need those bigger guys to help the way we got rolled in middle last week and Cant had a fair stinker last week and was only 50/50 against manly also
