NRL Round 3 - Knights Vs Warriors - 3:00pm Saturday, 21st March - McDonald Jones Stadium

Just from a practical perspective it's better to have a captain in the middle of the field than one who has to run in from out wide if he wants to say something. I kind of expected it to be Crossland if not Gagai but don't really get the disappointment in Saifiti, he's been good to start the year and has captained before. Gagai also has a dumb captain's challenge in him as we saw on the weekend

For mine Gags deserves the C, much more accomplished resume than JSaf, and is on the field all the time. If anyone deserves the C it's Gags.

Sorry if this isn’t the right place to ask but does anyone want to sell 2 tickets to this weekend’s game? I’m a QLD expat for the weekend and would love to go along. Ticketmaster keeps refunding my purchase after checkout. It's an absolute nightmare.

Based on what Holbrook did at the Titans, he seems to prefer having a middle forward as captain. Kevin Proctor and Ryan James were both captains before he later appointed Tino. Proctor was an interesting pick as captain given he was loose cannon off the field. If I’m not mistaken he was sacked after getting caught vaping in the change room at half time while his team was losing 😆
 
I thought Proctor was the captain for a fair while and did a reasonable job, but his career went into a tailspin over the Johnson biting scandal.
 
Warriors here. First off a shame for your guys to lose Ponga and Brown but it seems there are handy back ups.

For our guys CNK is a loss but Ruaupiki is an able replacement. Hansen on debut but has been solid in Cup and has a cimbinatiin with Boyd.

Barnett will probably start from the bench above Gannon. Niukore will want to impress his possible new team and supporters.

I am reasonably confident as I think we have the stronger back and bench but not by much.

Shame about CNK. I feel your forwards are the way you will win this match if you do and most of the matches Warriors win this year. Per stronger backs I vehemently disagree, I am fairly positive our backs will outclass the Warriors backs, the forwards are still the biggest difference maker.

The biggest worry in our backline will be Leiataua v Best. Your Wings are strong but our guys are playing with better defensive structures this year. Like I said, there will. Not be much in it either way.
 
Yeah the centres are the only part of the Wahs defence where I see a weakness, besides the 6 I’ve never heard of. Tanah seems to stand up pretty well in D from what I’ve seen.

Boyd has been on fire in the first two games. Best half in the game over the first two. His defence has improved significantly too. He worries me.
 
Don’t know if it’s been mentioned but captains are both J Saf and Friz in a joint role, don’t know why J Saf is copping the flack like he’s doing it alone.
My guess is that J Saf will start as he has been with Friz off the bench, plan will be to have at least 1 of them on at all times, assuming it would of solely been Friz if he was an 80 min player
 
Maybe gags got hooked as choice for captain after his **** poor captains challenge on the weekend when he challenged the call of Turbo playing at the ball before went into touch when gags booted it into him from 30cm away

But in the end they all should be leaders, the c only makes you do the coin toss and speak to the ref.

All senior players shpould be showing captaincy material when on the field with or without that title
 
I rate the call to make Jsaf captain. He’s never had attitude problems, injuries are what has hampered him the last few years. When he’s fit he is a top forward, like now. And he is the alpha of our pack right now. If you watch the last game he absolutely smashed Turbo on a couple of occasions.

The other reason I like it is Hollbrook is acknowledging his work and leadership. He’s really underrated. We all heard how crap out forward pack is by the media, but we dominated the last two teams pack.

Yes this game is easily going to be another level up but it’s saying to Jsaf you are as good as any other forward on that field. We need him playing at his best if we are any chance.
 
Good decision on reflecting, thought Lucas looking to the future but Saf is good if it’s mainly to “lead by example” to counter act Warriors in middle, Frizell as CoCaptain as will likely be Safs replacement when rested.
Leave Gags out due to rash decisions, gets worked up a bit
