He went with Sharpe at 5/8 to start the season, so I’d assume he would want to continue that plan.

Hunt played well at fullback when he came on, so he would be more than capable filling in there for the next few weeks

Don't think there's a perfect option regardless but my worry with Hunt and Sharpe is it puts a lot on Smith's plate. Maybe too much. Could look very good if the forwards are at least holding their own and they're both allowed a bit of room to run, but if we're under the pump I'd have doubts about them shovelling us out.

That said, any reservations any of us may have about Hunt I'm fairly confident he doesn't have about himself. He's a player of supreme self-confidence. I get the impression he shows more at training than we've seen so far as well, 2 coaches now have rated him over more experienced and conventional options. It wouldn't shock me if they back him in this week and he rocks up on Saturday raring to take on real playmaking duties.
 
Im happy with either option.
Who ever out of Gamble and Hunt that doesn't make the 13, needs to be on the 6 man bench.
Last two weeks have proven that we need spine cover.

All options are better than a Cogger and Hastings pairing
 
Also Sharpe in 6 and Sandon 7 puts more “game managing” pressure on Sharpe. We had a lot of KP playing that half role. Hunt won’t do that. We know Gamble is a capable half, decent boot. I would go with that option.

Makes sense but going back to earlier, coach was naming him in the halves to keep him in close to the action. I suspect he will do the same again.

But of course we had KP in the 1 at that stage and were wondering how we would fit Sharpe in.

Without KP and DB creating opportunities, playing Sharpe in the 1 leaves the halves as Smith and Crossland. I'd be banking on Smith and Sharpe being a bit more of an attacking threat personally, and the more traditional ball player/ball runner halves pairing.
 
I have a genuine question… what does it look like if Sandon keeps playing good footy at 7 and shows he’s a genuine halfback? Do we keep in the 7 jersey when KP and Brown are back?

I know people will come at me for this, but I personally believe Sandon is a better option in the halves with Brown, I feel Sandon knows how to unlock Bradman and Lucas with quality ball.
 
To call this a must win game is non sensical but Jesus it be a huge 2 points if we get up. Playing the Warriors who are also missing key personal, another win would be massive considering the tough draw and a few guaranteed losses ahead.

If we can keep our head above water and have a 50% win rate when Ponga/Brown return we can definitely make a run for the 8.

I think Hunt will be the fullback....I don't think many teams would be worried about him chiming into our attacking plays.

The thing I like about him is he does fullback things, backing up and popping up when there's a break just like the one brown setup.

Need some revenge at home after what they did to us in 23 and last year! If boys show that Novacastrian, hard working fight that we had against manly we can win!
 
Will be interesting to see what side Sharpe and Smith line up. Sharpe was extremely dangerous down the left however Smith has already developed a ball playing connection on that edge. I’d like to see Sharpe on the right, think his speed as well as Dom’s on that side could be lethal.

Have said my piece on it, like the idea of Sharpe at 1 so he can roam behind the play and just be totally opportunistic, but Holbrook has earned the benefit of the doubt at this point, won't pre-judge how they'll go.

One of the portly gentlemen on Denan Kemp's pod said that he had been talking to someone on the Knights staff who was raving about Fletcher Hunt, so this spine would be another sign that they're really really high on him.

Agree with this too but it has seemed like Sharpe is the first choice half on the left and Sandon covers whoever's out, so I'd imagine Sandon will be in Brown's spot. Tough tough defensive assignment on that edge, demon from Hell Leka Halasima seems to be playing on the left this season.

i think it is pretty evident after our first two games that the roles of 1, 6 and 7 and pretty hybrid compared to other sides and traditional roles. Don’t think it’ll matter the number on their back, think they’ll be playing to their strengths regardless
