NRL Round 25 - Knights Vs Broncos - 2:00pm Sunday 24th August - McDonald Jones Stadium

A Mr Brown won't fix this Knights side in 2026 , were fighting note to get another spoon, but were had petitions

to save substandard players that were resigned and what an embarrassing game in front of OLD BOYS DAY.

Clean brakes made and we can't even pass a ball back inside..STOP STOP 🛑🛑 that's enough.:brickwall::brickwall:

This shouldn't be the bar. Both need to be out of the club, we have no quality depth and neither is good enough to play first grade.
Didn’t say anything about it being the standard. Simply pointed out Arthur is better than Cogger.

Of course we have no first grade depth in the halves atm which is why we are stuck playing guys like Cogger & Arthur.

This depth situation won’t be changing any time soon until our promising jrs reach some potential. At this stage it’s still a way off.

We still need back up halves, so Arthur is better option of the two IMO. Short contracts and if a promising jr make it, they jump into the back up role.

Only the second game I’ve been to all year (paying member) didn’t want to support not even mediocrity and I don’t regret it but old boys day had to come support and that’s what they dished up…

I went to the game today, last game, figured I should, and if I don't renew next season might not be back there for a while.

I went there knowing we were likely in for a spanking, so figured I'd go and enjoy watching the skill of the Broncos. They didn't disappoint.

Highlight for me was Walsh standing in goal, but not scoring the try, only to beckon another Bronco over to score it instead, and there were about 3-4 Broncs that could still have taken the ball and scored, not a Knight near them, nobody coming through to make sure. Embarrassing.

I don't know what AOB trains during sessions but block plays are executed with no urgency, no pace etc. Plenty of moments could be highlighted to show how ordinary we are, but the score shows that and Broncs were cruising.

Big ups to the crowd, near 26k, turning up knowing we aren't winning this, knowing we are likely on the receiving end of an absolute belting, turned up anyway.
Seeing a few highlights on instagram, it’s quite funny that one of our two tries even featured a bumbling pass to nobody … caught the Broncos unawares because of that, rather than any actual skill!

The Walsh in-goal pass just tells me they’ve given up … nobody bothers to chase when there’s about five or six Broncos in support.

Didn’t bother tuning into this one with a family event on at the same time. Looks like I didn’t miss much and it went pretty much exactly as expected. Well done to those who sat through the pain. Two games of misery to go!!!
Didn't watch for the same reason. Normally I'd be watching on my phone in this situation but couldn't be bothered today with our performances this season.
On a positive, see below,

I don’t know about that. The players can clearly see the off-season and have nothing to play for. We are missing our 3 best players in Sharpe/Ponga/Lucas.

Ponga couldn’t have played much worse this season, get his injuries healed up, he will have to play well next season. Another pre season for Sharpe is only a good thing.

The wildcard is Brown and how he fits in our halves setup. But at his best he is elite, and even in average form he’s probably still better than any half we’ve thrown out there thisseason(Cogger/Gamble/Hastings/Arthur

We just need a coach that leans into the attacking threats we have.
Stop making excuses. I’ve over the excuses. Enough is enough **** AOB off

Sad thing is there’s nothing at all that would suggest this changes next year. If anything, it will be worse. And one of the craziest sporting decisions on earth, in any code, for all time, would be to keep the potato AoB in charge.
True, but this doesn’t take the knot of sadness that exists in all true Knights supporters.
The Knights supporters just want this train wreck fixed so we can be competitive and the gifts of our squad can be maximised.
Surely the club decision makers can see what we see on this forum and it is a dereliction of their responsibilities to let it continue.

At the moment I cannot see how next year there is a hope of improvement with the current squad - minus Leo, KPP, Braley, Hastings, Cogger, Hetherington, Elliot?, Gamble?. Also an ageing Friz and Gags way past their best. Add a playmaker ,who isn’t a playmaker ,like Brown, and we are going to struggle.
We will get some quality injured players back like KP, Sharpe and Lucas, but how many times this year did we have a full strength squad and still got beaten by teams with Origin or injured players missing.
Of the kids coming through I like McEwans chances of being a good first grader, but we have no quality depth. Add a couple of almost but not quite first grade quality replacements for players leaving, and I for one can’t imagine where any improvement will come from.
We need to give POS time to try to sort this mess out, he didn’t create this squad so he will need time to rebuild the roster . It’s a big job
I think Parr will prove a very good CEO. I think it is true that clubs are built from the front office up and he seems a good boss to re establish a strong club culture. Currently there isn’t one

It’s going to take a special coach to turn things around, and AOB is not that . I wouldn’t wait to be sacked if I were him, I would be running for the exits with a nice payout before any more damage to his reputation as a coach occurs. Maybe pick up an assistant role with Perth or PNG. I do give him a pass mark for his time here, but it’s clear he has lost the playing group, the fans and the front office support. Times up

Hear the pre game interview with I think it was Kurt or Aku, and they asked about old boys day and they said hopefully the boys turn up and put in a good performance.

Credit to the old boys a bunch of them stayed out on that balcony to the siren.

Very poor game by Knights, not many good performances from the 17 but some put in big efforts such as Crossland, McEwen along with a few others.
Thought we were hanging in but kept making silly basic mistakes that cost us dearly, Broncos scored a few easy tries while we bombed three that I recall from bad passes to a man in the clear with try line open. If we had scored those then Broncos wouldn’t have scored super quick responsive tries Score line might have been more like a 24-34 loss which would have been more respectable if not undeserving.
The score line made our for and against worse so we need Titans to loose next two as I can’t see us winning either of out two.

Got $4.80 boosted odds, for Karapani any time try scorer, broncos to lead at -5.5 at half time and full time -10.5.

Such easy money.

I might be in a minority but I think our roster next year is an improvement on this year. None of the guys we’re losing are any good and they’re on huge salaries. I like that we’ve gone out and bought some genuine middle forwards with size even if they’re not big name players. Sticking with the same spine all year (injuries aside) will help a lot as well. A halves pairing of Sharpe and Brown wouldn’t have been anyone’s first choice, but the best we could get and they’re a step up talent wise on the halves we’ve been rotating in and out. Coaching is more my concern next year.

Going with some family to the Sharks game, they talked my girls into think they want to go lol, so substitute sharks for the broncos here lol.

A lot of the salary cap simply hasn’t been on the field so it’s sort of automatically an improvement on that basis.

With how poor we’re playing and how clear it is that the squad has given up on AOB, It doesn’t get spoken about much, but we’ve got a hopelessly imbalanced top 30 this season. We’ve used 38 players in the top grade whilst Annan, Hopwood, Manulelua, Sullivan, Taukamo, Teague haven’t featured once. If we were to suffer a similar injury crisis next season, I think we’d be better placed to at least put players into the NRL side that are capable of holding their fists up, as opposed to having to use so many second tier players or rookies.
