NRL Round 24 - Sharks V Knights - 4:05pm Sunday 18 August - PointsBet Stadium, Sydney.

Be happy for McCarthy to get a run, his defence has been very poor, but his attack is pretty strong when given half a chance. No pace of Sharpe or Armstrong, but a good talent regardless.

Moceidreke is a weird one, as I never saw him have a shocker and he suited what we needed at the time, but how they are being treated is no worse than players that clubs don't intend to have a futures here.
Is Moceidreke one of those guys who's a really poor trainer?

He runs like he has leg injuries, but still faster than most.
Last time he ran the length of the field to score he got there, but looked like he should be taken to the Vets to get put down
One of your best descriptions yet Billy 😂

I notice Seb Sua now has a firstgrade profile.
Says he is 198cm and 108kg, which is the same for both height and weight as KPP.
I'm not sure I agree with that. He's a big boy, but he looks a bit shorter than KPP and the Saifiti's.

Still no firstgrade or reserve grade profile for Kyle McCarthy and he is not listed as signed or on the development list. Last time he was named on the extended bench they put up a profile for him, but with no photo and no information, and they took it down a few days later.
McCarthy played SG Ball in 2023, so he would be 19/20 and could play Flegg next year, but I think he's only played reserve grade this year. He has no reserve grade profile, so you have to go to the game day records to see how he has been going. He has played both centre and wing, but has played mostly wing in recent weeks (didn't play last week for some reason).
He is a big boy - my guess would be 193cm and 100kg - which would make him our tallest back if he plays this week.
He is on a steep learning curve. In 2022 he was playing Laurie Daley cup for a south coast side. Last year he started in Ball and played Flegg and reserve grade before the year ended. He played wing and centre in all 3 grades and plays on both the left and right, but has been playing right wing recently.
So he is tall, fast, can jump, has good hands, can score a try - his reads in defence when playing centre are pretty hesitant, but I think he's better when playing wing, and if he was playing alongside Gags, I think Gags would talk to him a lot.
In short, he is 19 or 20, comes from the south coast, is in his second year at the the club, played 3 grades last year, but had a firstgrade pre-season this year and has only played reserve grade so far, and must be on some sort of contract, but we don't know what.

Nice write up Billy. Didn’t realise 2022 he was in just the L Daley Cup. Very big jump for the kid, so miss reads in defence against experienced players is understandable. For example, Fletcher Myers partnered with McCarthy a few times before leaving and just as bad in D. But looks alright with experienced players.

Not sure where he comes in though, Lucas named coming back from his Hammie, if it’s not ready then your not moving Marz to centre And McCarthy to wing.

Just looked at the reserve grade team lists for the last two games he played and they have had him at number 4, so they might have been getting him ready for a while. Before that he was in 5 Jersey.

This is crunch game, could be decided before we play depending on results earlier but let’s treat it as sudden death, Top 13/17 squad, all out to win.
So keeping with that thought let’s not throw a potential top player to the wolfs by picking him, McCarthy, for a debut, yes give him an opportunity when circumstances suit.
If Lucas isn’t right then go with Pryce who has debut before.

Argument for Pryce is I’m pretty sure he’s played quite a bit of center in SL. But also there is an element of risk also. I would say even Lucus is a risk in defence in the centres. Agree let’s not put this pressure on McCarthy.

It’s going to be a tough baptism of fire for McCarthy against the Sharks.

Jenkins would have been the safer option.

Pryce hasn’t started a single game at centre in his FG career.

We have had some great debuts this year though
