NRL Round 22 - Knights Vs Broncos - 7:35pm Saturday, 1st of August - Suncorp Stadium

The big difference between us and the top top sides is that while Trey has been very good, and others have held their gloves up, we can't absolutely blow the other team's ruck apart and play against a totally shot defensive line like they get to. There are more moving parts in us getting going in both yardage and attack and it's very reliant on execution. Almost all our breaks are down the edges, which is an inherently riskier play style, but it's what works for the roster.

It makes for some scintillating attacking footy when we get it right of course, but contrast with how teams eventually just wilt vs Penrith or NZ's relentless physicality, or the way the Roosters (and the Storm via Harry Grant & Broncos via the Haas/Carrigan offload game in years past) can just blow a team's guts out. We don't have that luxury.

We're a lot more comparable to the Dolphins, who have a lot of good forwards in depth but not any absolute monsters who allow them to play on easy mode in more than half their games. But we're if anything ahead of schedule that we can look at some of the guys who have to play now and say "yep, this guy can play first grade every week no drama".

Ennis is the pits. Was hoping he’d get the Dragons head coaching gig so I wouldn’t have to listen to his commentary any more.
Ennis shouldn’t be anywhere near a first grade side. He has an enormously high opinion of his ability to do anything in league and if he has to stick around, try not to commentate on any games where he was a previous player.
Just a terrible commentator who never shuts up.

Ill oppose that. Did a minor tear (w weeks off) early this year and then again on return to the field. I knew about both of them, that day and the next.
A lot depends on the severity of the strain. Crossland might have felt a little something during the game but didn’t think much of it because the adrenaline and being warmed up can mask a lot of the pain. That’s why I don’t think we can judge the injury based on a video of him looking in good spirits after the game. I’d say once the adrenaline wore off the next day, the calf would have stiffened up and become much more painful and that’s likely what Toohey is basing his report on. I highly doubt Toohey would have made up the injury.

I actually reckon things are about to get even more grim for the Broncos over the next 12 months.

It's clear they aren't motivated after winning a comp last year and several of their players had career best years last year. Get the feeling Barnett and Gagai signings will age badly for them and Pezet won't be as good of a buy as people think and I'm thinking Duffy is a good chance of being the 7.

Expecting them to have the plan of "pass it to Walsh" and hope for the best similar to us with KP for the last few years before this year. Also cannot see Madge lasting the whole season either with the external pressure and head noise with all the old boys mainly Gordie Tallis wanting him to fail.

Trey Mooney has gotten better and better as the season has evolved but Cody Hopwood and Lachlan Crouch also deserve praise.

Can see why Hopwood is rated highly and has been very good for us but I don't think is even close to his potential yet. 139m from 14 runs.

Crouch has been solid and has the mongrel about him I like and think has been missing for a while. He'll get even better with more consistent first grade opportunities.

Dragons have been good young forwards coming through but I'm optimistic on our ones also with these blokes, Manuleulua and McEwen in the side.

Crouch showed some of his ball play the other night as he comes to grips with firsts. Everyone rightfully raving about Manu's pass to Marz, but Crouch's offload after winning contact set that try up.
