By and large these young blokes have been winners right through their junior days and are carrying it in to seniors. The effect of that cannot be understated. I thought the effect of his early days in first grade rubbed off on DSaf in particular. When the going got tough later in his career, he would go insular and just do his job rather then take a "follow me boys" attitude. May have just been his make up.

Yeah you can totally see it in the way these guys play as well ... I said a few weeks ago, they seem to handle adversity and moments going against us better than some of our senior players, at times.

The opposite i have seen in JSaf this year he has shouldered that load an been a true leader.

Couldn't imagine they would throw him in like that. We'd probably have to deal with Cant playing big minutes and maybe Diesel getting some time to give him a rest. But hopefully Harry is alright. Crossland has shown no indication of being injured either apart from the murmers going around. Hopefully that means it's not too bad and he can play, even if it is in some pain.

Ill oppose that. Did a minor tear (w weeks off) early this year and then again on return to the field. I knew about both of them, that day and the next.

Always a possibility of putting KP in the halves and Sandon into hooker with can’t on rotation. Hunt to fullback. At this end of the year a spine should be experienced first graders - not ideal but better than throwing a kid in - sure, has potential but weaknesses are evident in cup still let alone FG. Hopefully both Harrison and crossy are short term if that.
 
KP into the halves should never be spoken about ever again that whole idea really needs to be put in the bin and than set the bin on fire than toss the remains in the ocean.

Hagan is more than ready for a bench spot that can do 15-20 minutes for a week or two and normally top 3 players for cup when he plays not sure the weaknesses people speak of, he is a massive run threat, very solid in defence and has good service, Sandon to hooker would be much more destructive for the team as Hagan eats him alive for defence.

Not to mention how much you’d have to move people and completely destroy combos, i mean you’d be moving three players rather than just one. Hunt is clearly working on centre for next year and is slowly getting better at it, Ponga is either fullback or left right out and right now we desperately need Smith at halfback.

We need to win games and can’t afford these ludicrous experiments right now

God no, Kalyn shouldn’t be anywhere near the front line of defence. Smith and Shape need as much time together in the halves as possible.
Same goes for the rest of the spine. If one goes out, one goes in. No need to reshuffle the whole lot
 
What a night. Sitting in a stand full of Broncos supporters and listening to the griping while having nothing to do except cheer tries and good football made for a pretty enjoyable evening.

A few things really stood out from being there live:

  1. The Broncos' attack barely troubled our defensive structure. Sharpe and Best's reads and line speed are massive assets defensively. They shut down so much before it even became a threat.
  2. Our attacking shapes are becoming second nature. The way the troops move into position is like a well-oiled machine. Ponga picks the channel he wants to attack, and within seconds Smith and either the link forward or Sharpe have swung into place. It feels like we've moved away from relying on rigid set plays in good-ball situations and are instead creating more opportunities within each set than we've seen in recent years.
  3. Ponga has become the leader of the band in every sense. He's now the centre of everything, not just through his performances but through his presence. From the moment the team comes out for the warm-up until 30 minutes after full-time, when he's still waiting for the last of the boys to finish mixing with the fans, he looks completely invested in what this team is building.
After watching the replay last night, I'd probably downgrade the performance slightly. It wasn't nearly as obvious from the ground just how early the Broncos lost two players, and the TV coverage also highlighted just how poor Brisbane were at times.

I walked out of the stadium thinking we were right there with any of the top four sides. After the replay, I'd temper that view a little—but only a little.

Either way, it's been 16 years since I last saw us win an away game in person.

Up the mighty Knights!
