NRL Round 21 - Knights Vs Roosters - 6:00pm Friday, 24th of July - McDonald Jones Stadium

We played brave through the whole game, but another loss, I’m sick of losing!
I can’t believe we didn’t get a sin bin for at least one of those head highs, spotted a few others that the ref didn’t call either.
Just so luckless with injuries, but as others have said great reps for our emerging crop.

Crossland is a such spirited player, and good challenge for the manu shoulder charge, I wouldn’t mind him getting a permanent co captain gig, he’s a good voice to have in the middle.

I will be livid if we lose to those gronks up at Brisbane.

We seriously should’ve won all three of these games. Tonight though was easily the toughest to take considering we were already missing Ponga, Saifiti, Gagai, McEwen, Crouch and Saulo. Lucas then goes down for the majority, and likely a very long time after the fact. Francis and Frizell also for periods during the game and then Brown for half of the second half. Crossland and Cant had to play out of position and Sharpe obviously has been jumping back and forth most of the year.

To only lose by one against a full strength Roosters team under all that adversity shows just how far this team has come in less than 12 months.

We need to start turning all the opportunities into points, cut out basic errors and learn how to goal kick. Losing by a combined 5 points in the last 3 weeks is bloody gonna hurt at the back end of the year and it’s so frustrating considering how hard we’ve been trying. The rugby league gods just hate us for no ****ing reason and I’m so over it. We deserve better man.

I'm worried this could be career ending....didn't a Broncos player suffer a similar injury a while back and had to retire
It can often be career ending. I've got no idea on the matter but from memory it has everything to do with how the complex system of soft tissue recovers.

In Jharal Yoh Yeh's case he was never able to recover anything close to the strength and structural integrity he had before the injury.

The fact that the compound fracture seemed to occur so close to the ankle itself isn't a good sign.

Super proud of the boys tonight. We held strong despite all the adversity and were unlucky to lose.

The injuries to both Lucus and Brown, I’m the most devastated about. Hopefully Brown can make it back for finals.

The silver lining was Manu was exceptional tonight. He will slot on the left now. Hopefully he forms a good combination with KP, Sharpe.

We will still make finals comfortably. I’m confident we beat the Titans, and Manly at home. Hopefully Cows defeat Broncos this round and that will deflate them for next week. I think we can beat Canberra away. If we get 5th or 6th which I’m confident we do we get a home semi.

Week two of the finals will be a massive achievement this year.

Concerns it's an ACL for Brown.

If he's lucky enough to have a dislocation with no fracture, he might be back this year, depending on how it goes back in place.
Pretty unlikely though.
I’m sure there was a player who had that a while back, and he was back very quickly. It was literally just dislocated. But can’t remember who it was …

I'm going to read through the game thread later but wanted to say this without being swayed by other comments. Just got home from the game. First up, what a great effort, I'm so proud of them. We had great players right across the park. Second up, it was around this time last year we lost Dylan Lucas and literally had nothing left in attack the rest of the year. Losing Brown and Lucas tonight, the depth of the club means we still have Manuleleua and McKewn as gun edge forwards and Ponga, Sharpe and Smith in the halves. We can still go deep. Last up, wtf is going on with the crack downs now? No disruptor penalty on Young last week. Direct shoulder to Manu's face and Friz has his nose spread across his face and no bins? Have they put them away? No one should go to the bin for the rest of the year. These changes mid season are a complete farce. I'm equal parts proud of the boys and so pissed about that game.

Well I was hopeful of a win but that was gone for me when we lost Ponga and Crouch along with Gagai and McEwen but the boys put up a fight despite losing Lucas and Brown.
Late in game thought we might snatch a win but didn’t happen, was super impressed with the whole team effort, things just didn’t quite come off. Injuries, positional changes, unable to utilise other bench options due to HIA’s and other injuries.
Hard to give MOTM awards to a few when many deserved it, thought Croker was great, huge effort along with Manu, Jones and Crossland but nothing wrong with effort of the others.
Probably the best and biggest team effort considering our missing players and those injured during game.
Expect Ponga and McEwen back next week, Gags probably but Hunt did good, Sharp 6, Smith 7, Croker, Manu and McEwn back 3 with Mooney, Frizell, Hopwood and Jones up front/bench, ESL for Cant and maybe The Gambler to bench.
Think we are still in race for top 8, top 4 could be a struggle but on today’s effort might be possible

Early injury prognosis
Lucas dislocated L ankle with a bone fracture, Ankle relocated itself but still a fracture and probably ligament damage. Season ending .
Brown failed knee stability test. They are thinking ligament damage, probably ACL. Scans will confirm what the damage is , but they are thinking best case scenario it’s a PCL or MCL and will be season ending anyway.
What a sh*t night.
