NRL Round 16 - Knights Vs Dragons - 8:00pm Friday, 19th of June - McDonald Jones Stadium

League is funny. Everyone complains they hate 6 agains, then everyone complains when 6 agains go away.
It’s just felt like normal footy again the last few weeks for me. I think I said it during that Storm game when people were up in arms, I couldn’t see the problem. I’m much happier with it.

True. There should be a happy medium though. Sutton thought he was reffing an Origin game from 2016 last night. He put the whistle away and let both sides get away with murder in the ruck. There were times in the 2nd half St George were taking the **** with how long they were laying on us.
That 3.54 seconds vs 3.5 seconds stat from @Macca89 indicates it was pretty even for both sides.

I definately brings teams like the storm back in to contention thats for sure as they are masters at slowing down the ruck. A happy medium would be nice. I also think it brings us back down a peg a lot harder to getting in to a good flow when you are being dragged back down when trying to play the ball.

Yeah I was going to add it doesn’t suit our 2026 style of play quite as much, unfortunately. But on the other hand, we still scored 30 points in that game vs the Storm. So who knows!

Now I’m finished crying about winning…
I was one of the serious doubters of Tom Cant, he had a cracker of a game. He’s not going around Lucas or McEwan, but how good is it to have depth again.
I hope we get to see FML more too, with more match fitness he’d be a ripper.
I can see how we get dominated by the Dragons forwards, it’s not like they’re a reserve grade pack. They’re a pretty handy pack and we were down 2 of our best starters. Plus we had Mooney. I know he’s young, but I’m getting less convinced he’s up to the challenge. He’s an impressive figure, I just wish he had the heart and brain to match the body.
Anyway, a win’s a win, I just wish they’d stop causing heart attacks to get them.

Haha yea Cant had a total blinder

I haven’t got to watch the game yet, but looking at the NRL stats Mooney was our best prop.
54 mins, 16 runs, 137m, 67pc
Jsaf - 54 mins, 10 runs, 97m, 38pc

Most gave points to Jsaf, None to Mooney?

Sounds like we missed having an extra prop in the rotation.

Could have sworn it was the other way around Trey got smashed a few times

Maybe it’s just the way I’ve been viewing him. Because I’ve been off him a bit lately, maybe I’m only seeing the negative things

Even though I think the 6 Agains suit the Knights, I’m glad they’ve been put away and games are now actually relatively close and competitive (panthers aside). I believe Magic Round and all the blowouts was the final straw, since then scorlines have reduced and games are on average closer

I watched 9’s coverage and they were actually tying to sell it as there’s now less penalties and 6 Agains because the teams have learned their lesson and are getting better in the ruck and adjusting to the rules 🤣 I’m sure that’s it, and not all the complaints the game was unwatchable

Anyway, finals football wasn’t ever going to be touch football, so might as well get used to it now. I just think the Knights need to adjust a bit more to the change. We also better hope we don’t have any more major injuries in the forwards or we could be in trouble because our forward pack is more of an issue now
