NRL Round 16 - Knights Vs Dragons - 8:00pm Friday, 19th of June - McDonald Jones Stadium

It was one of those ones though where there was 3 in the tackle, Gutho on the ball and the other two pulling the arms to loosen and then they call it as the player rips it away
Hard to defend those, raiders and Storm have perfected it.
Should not be allowed to strip like that after you get 2-3 in tackle like that as not many people can fight that and keep the ball

Hate that rule so much. It should only be a 1 on 1 strip if there was only ever one in the tackle. Oh there was technically not multiple tacklers as of the split second before the ball actually came out is it? Idiotic.

You hear, “a wins a win” but bloody hell. I hate that we almost lost to a team that was worse than us last year.

If Newcastle want to challenge for a premiership they need to be a whole lot better than that. Our defence stinks at the moment and the dumb mistakes are giving the bottom feeders are a proper sniff.
Given how the Knights were such an outside toilet show from midway through last season, I have to temper my realistic expectations on game day this year as very few teams go from the lavatory to the penthouse in one season.
I am aware that we had 3 excellent players out tonight, that we had some patches of poor defence, that we invited despair into our lives by not catching 6th tackle kicks, and that we went away from what the best teams do in 2026, but I am so pleased and proud that we are winning ugly and currently sitting in 3rd place on the ladder.
I’ll take that any day and wouldn’t swap it for the world given the Knights debacle that was 2025.
We take the 2 points, take our lessons, and understand that there are no easy games in the NRL.
Bring on Beanie For Brain Cancer round at home next weekend against the old Tiges.

I thought the game changed when Crossland through the forward pass when we'd jut got a six again an was on their 10 metre line. We had the momentum. I think if we scored there and gone 16 or 18 nil up, the floodgates may well have opened. Also, with the Knights first try can someone please tell me why when a player is backing up for a 2 on 1 inside ball, the support player wants to run alongside of the ball carrier if not marginally in front of him when there is no chance of someone catching him. I thought the pass was borderline at best and they didn't need to do it. 1 metre behind him takes the forward pass risk out of it. It happens all time with all teams and its bloody annoying when they don't need to. I know sometimes they have to be flat but not in this case.
