I couldn’t see why he wouldn’t be used off the bench at some stage this year.

I’m past the point of us playing/hoping for injuries in the opposition team. If we are going to WIN a comp we want to play and beat the best opposition.

While I agree, it doesn't hurt to play some understrength side during origin, gives a chance to rest players or give then reduced mins.

On Jones, yes a fan, he is better suited playing 11-13 than 8-10, hope he is over his injury and impresses someone to get a contract, has a few good years left in him if fit and well

On Eels game, if Ponga not backing up I would be disappointed if McCarthy doesn’t start at left centre, Sharpe at fb and Hunt on ext bench.
Not a huge McCarthy fan but he goes ok it’s just the need to show young up and comers that opportunities will be given. Don’t think we loose anything between him and Hunt, few pluses and minuses but opportunities don’t come along often, give him a go.

My memory of him is fading, and it’d be nice to have another reminder of what he offers.

Seems De Courcey is gone. Might be worthwhile checking McCarthy’s development and giving him a crack before we say goodbye.
