NRL Round 13 - Knights Vs Eels - 3:00pm Saturday, 30th of May - McDonald Jones Stadium

I tend to favour McCarthy with Hunt on ext bench covering most backline positions, definitely not Cant. Assuming of course Ponga doesn’t play.
JSaf likely to play as many minutes if not more than he does each week in SOO with a lot more intensity so he will likely miss this game
 
J saf could be on the bench for us and not play if we are looking good, with someone like Hola going on instead, or if we are in trouble late in the game he could give us 20 good minutes and maybe save the day.
Even Ponga could be 19th man and only be used if the game is close in the second half.
Having numbers 18 and 19 gives you a lot of options we haven't seen in previous years.

If his defending well in cup would be good for him to get an audition for next years centre position against a weakish team.
 
We don't really know where Cant is at this year.
The coach had plenty of good things to say about him in the pre-season.
He has been named in the squad 6 times in the early rounds, but only got on the field four times for short minutes.
He came back from a long injury break in reserve grade last week and played 65 minutes at second row, and we had a very good win over one of the better reserve grade sides (Newtown), and Cant was pretty good at that level.
I mentioned him because he is in the training pics this morning and this year you often see guys about to be picked in the forefront of training pics.

A lot of guys are going alright under Holbrook. I don't think Cant has had a chance to show us if he's improved.

Oh for goodness sake, NO.
His last experience there was a disaster, and he is too slow for centre.
If we have to use a centre, at least McCarthy is a centre and going ok, even if he is not a long term Knights player.
 
I know they are trying hard to force Cant into the team but he isn’t a centre at all, we would get dominated if we put him there especially since we do have Sharpe, Hunt, McCarthy, Schiller. Hell I’d put Winter out there before Cant.
